Today marks the launch of the National Key Stage 3 Alliance which our CEO, Dame Lesley Powell, is proud to co-chair with Lift Schools CEO, Becks Boomer-Clark.

The event, hosted at the House of Lords, saw over 100 educators gather to hear about the aims of the alliance and to pledge to work together across England to improve the educational experiences of children in their early secondary years 7-9.

The new national alliance is calling on schools, trusts, colleges, researchers and young people to help redefine the purpose of Key Stage 3 and identify what works during this critical period of education.

Speaking of the launch, Dame Lesley, said:
"We are determined to make a difference through the alliance to help schools transform the early secondary years for every child. We know we are stronger together, and the alliance gives teachers and school leaders an exciting opportunity to share expertise to drive meaningful change for children up and down the country."

The alliance is also calling for evidence to find examples of effective practice in the early secondary years, research and innovation, as well as lessons from approaches that have not worked.

The call for evidence is open until 5pm on Monday 9th November. Schools, trusts, colleges, researchers, young people and other interested organisations can contribute at www.ks3alliance.org.uk

The North East Learning Trust is delighted to welcome Churchill Academy as the 15th school to join the Trust.🤩

Formerly Churchill Community College, Churchill Academy, as the school will now be known, has a long history of educating children in the Wallsend area of North Tyneside. They join us with 800 pupils and the exciting prospect of a brand new school building after recently receiving government rebuild funding.

Speaking of the news, Chief Executive Officer of NELT, Dame Lesley Powell DBE, said:

"Churchill Academy joins the Trust with a clear ambition for the future and we are delighted to welcome their students, families, staff and governors to the NELT family.

"They bring with them strong community values and share our Trust vision to provide excellence for every child, every day.
