🏅Howletch Lane Primary School invites families to Sports Week, starting Monday 22 June.

We have a full programme of year-group events across the week, see further information below.

We had an amazing day yesterday at Washington Wetlands!
The children learnt all about pond life and the habitats of different animals. We also spotted a wide variety of birds and had a fabulous time exploring together.
The children behaved impeccably and we were incredibly proud of them all! By the journey home, many of the children were happily exhausted and even fell asleep on the bus after such a busy and exciting day.

🌼🦆 Explorers 3 Become Nature Detectives! 🦆🌼
Yesterday’s trip to Washington Wetland Centre was packed with adventure. We started by pond dipping and discovering tiny creatures like pond skaters and whirlgig beetles. 🐞🔍
We wandered past ducks and flamingos — and even tried standing like flamingos ourselves. We were naturals! 🦩💛
In the woodland, we searched for minibeasts cleverly hiding from hungry birds. Then we watched the otters enjoy their lunch and asked lots of curious questions. 🦦🍽️
The insect garden, bug hotel and a fun playtime in the park made the afternoon just as exciting. 🌳🐛🎉
Members of the public told Miss Chisholm how polite and well‑behaved we were. She couldn’t have been prouder. 🌟

🍎We are pleased to announce that spaces are available from September in our Little Pioneers 2‑year‑old provision. 🍎

🏫 We are offering both 15-hour and 30-hour places to support families and help our youngest pupils begin their learning journey in a safe, caring environment.

Navigators Fire Safety Assembly 🚒🔥
Our Navigators recently took part in an important and engaging fire safety assembly, focusing on arson awareness and how to keep ourselves and others safe.
The session also covered staying safe at the beach and being aware of potential risks within our local community. The children listened brilliantly and showed great understanding of how their choices can help keep everyone safe.
To finish, we enjoyed some fun games which helped reinforce all the key messages in an exciting and memorable way!

Navigators 2 – Mr Halliday’s Class 🌍🍃
What a fantastic visit to Hardwick Park for our Climate Change Workshop! The children had an engaging and interactive day, exploring the different ways we can support the environment in our local area.
They took part in a range of hands-on activities, including designing and making their own filtering systems to clean dirty water, and testing a dam—just like beavers would build—to help manage flooding. 🦫💧
We also enjoyed a nature hunt, spotting different animals and learning about their habitats, before discovering where our food comes from and even creating our own compost heap. 🌱
To finish the day, the children helped care for the park by taking part in litter picking, while learning how long different materials take to decompose.
A brilliant day full of learning, teamwork and lots of smiles! 😊

🌿 Navigators 1 (Mr Sutherland) & Discoverers 🌿
We had an amazing trip to Hardwick Park to take part in a Climate Change Workshop! 🌎
Throughout the day, the children were fully involved in a variety of hands-on activities, learning about how we can make a difference in our local area. They built their own water filtering systems, experimented with a dam similar to those created by beavers to help manage flooding, and took part in a nature hunt to spot wildlife around the park. 🦫💧🐾
The children also discovered more about where our food comes from and worked together to create a compost heap. They showed great enthusiasm while litter picking and explored how long everyday waste takes to break down in the environment, helping them understand the importance of protecting our planet. ♻️🍎
It was a fun-filled day of learning, teamwork, and plenty of happy faces! 😄

🌿 Navigators 3 – Mrs Bailey’s Class 🌿
We had a fantastic visit to Hardwick Park for a Climate Change Workshop! 🌎
