Today we have been weeding our strawberry and potato plots. Then we planted the lettuce we had grown from seeds 🥬

This morning we had lots of fun exploring our local environment. We had a special beach morning where we collected shells to create our own pictures on canvas. Also we got to visit our local cafe and sample their tasty hot chocolate.

The sun came out to shine for our beach clean as part of our World Ocean Day celebrations. A big thank you to Catherine and Lauren from EGCP - Turning the Plastic Tide for joining us and making our beach clean a success. We learnt about the hazards of plastics including micro plastics in our oceans. We even had time for a little treat.

Today our older pupils were excited to share their Scratch skills with our younger pupils. Earlier in the week they took part in the SSEN Transmission Event where they developed their skills in using Scratch to code a game. Today they shared their learning by patiently teaching the younger pupils how to build their own game. Lots of fun was had by both teachers and learners.

Due to the generosity of our Burnhaven Family we were able to invite Alison from Aberdeenshire North Foodbank into school today to present her with our collection of food. We had lots of questions about the role of the Foodbank and the positive impact it has on our local community. A big thank you to all who contributed to this worthy cause.

We have been very excited to observe our butterflies as they hatch from their chrysalises. Our younger pupils have been writing all about the life cycle of a butterfly. We learnt lots of facts including the meaning of the word metamorphosis.

This morning our P6 and P7 pupils took part in an online activity led by SSEN Transmission. We all completed the Virtual Challenger Experience, testing out our coding skills on Scratch. We followed the online event and then used our skills to create our own games on Scratch. We can't wait to share our learning with our younger pupils.

Summer is here - and we’ll be sharing simple weekly tips that are easy to follow and can make a big difference by the end of the break.
Summer Slide Tip 1️⃣ 💚
Create a summer reading routine: Just 10–15 minutes a day can make a big difference over time.
To help support this, we’ve created Camp Nessy, a FREE Summer Resource Pack, which gives structure and consistency throughout the holidays: https://www.nessy.com/en-gb/homeschooling/summer-fun-with-nessy
