We have had a great first full week back at Central! There has been lots going on, including welcoming our Primary 1 pupils for their first full week, receiving delivery of new sensory room equipment, and contending with plenty of rain (in August!). Nevertheless, it has been a busy and positive week across the school.
Assembly Focus: SHANARRI - SAFE ❤️
At today's assembly, we focused on the SHANARRI wellbeing indicator SAFE. We discussed what it means to be safe and the different ways we can keep ourselves and others safe both in school and beyond.
Our discussions included:
➡️Having trusted adults at home and school who help to keep us safe.
➡️Staying safe when walking or cycling to school.
➡️Making positive choices in the playground.
Being safe online.
We encouraged pupils to remember:
➡️Wear a helmet when cycling to school. 🚲
➡️Avoid using earphones or mobile phones when crossing roads. 🛣️
➡️Show kindness to friends and adults in school to help keep everyone safe. 🤗
➡️Stay safe online and always ask a parent or trusted adult to check apps, messages and online content. 📱
Playtime Snacks
We are still experiencing issues with some pupils bringing too many snacks to school for playtime. Pupils should only bring one snack, which should be able to be eaten within the 15-minute playtime period.
If you are sending grapes with your child, please ensure they are cut lengthways in half (like little boats) to reduce the risk of choking. 🍇
Parking and Road Safety 🚘 ⛔️
Unfortunately, during drop-off this morning, we observed several examples of unsafe parking. This included:
⛔️A vehicle stopping on the yellow zig-zag lines with children exiting from the back seat.
⛔️ A vehicle stopping on the zig-zag markings to drop off pupils.
⛔️ A vehicle parked and left unattended on the zig-zag lines throughout the drop-off period.
I must stress that no vehicles should stop or park on the yellow zig-zag markings at any time. These markings are in place to protect children and ensure clear visibility around the school entrance.
Parents and carers who continue to ignore this guidance, despite repeated reminders, may be reported to the relevant authorities. Our pupils' safety is simply not worth a two-minute shortcut.

After School Clubs ⚽️
Campbell will be restarting our after-school clubs from Monday 31st August. These will run for 5 weeks. There will be NO clubs on the w/c 21st September. A reminder will be sent nearer the time.
