My favourite office of the year! This afternoon has been a short film music concert followed by small group workshops with primary school children - my favourite bit being getting them to buzz happy birthday to their school mate! We're back later for two film music concerts, complete with light show!

🎺 AUDLEY BRASS WELCOMES STEPH WILSHAW 🎺

Audley Brass is delighted to announce the appointment of Steph Wilshaw to the organisation, as the new Musical Director of Audley Community Band.

Steph brings with her a wealth of experience as both an educator and performer. She is a passionate instrumental teacher for learners of all ages, having spent her entire adult life helping people discover the joy of music. She has previously directed beginner and intermediate youth bands, and now takes the baton at Audley Community Band where she will lead weekly rehearsals, develop the ensemble's musical ability, and prepare the group for local performances and community events.

As a player, Steph brings great pedigree, having previously been played for top brass bands, including Flowers Band on Front Row Cornet and more recently Enderby Band on Repiano Cornet, bringing with her not just teaching experience, but strong credentials as a performer. In addition to her new role, Steph is also offering private brass lessons to those in the local area who want to begin their musical journey or take their playing to the next level.

Speaking about her appointment, Steph said:
“I really enjoyed my audition with the Audley Community Band, so I'm thrilled to have been offered the MD post. There are some really talented players around the stand that I look forward to working with. Hopefully we’ll make a lot of music and have a lot of fun.”

Audley Brass Musical Director, Tom Hancock, added:
“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Steph to the team. Her enthusiasm, experience, and natural rapport with players of all ages make her a perfect fit for Audley Community Band. We’re excited to see the group grow and flourish under her direction.”

The band continues to welcome new players of all abilities. If you're looking for a friendly and supportive group to play with - or you’d like to explore private tuition - Steph and the Audley Community Band would love to hear from you.

Rehearsals take place on Sunday evenings at 5:30pm at the organisation’s purpose-built band-room in Audley. Get in touch via the band’s social media accounts, website or email [email protected] to learn more!

Meet Isla, my new clarinet student 😊 Isla has been playing for just over two years and is doing really well. She's having some extra lessons with me to get her to Grade 1 so that she can join her school orchestra - hopefully they'll be playing some music from KPop Demon Hunters too!😅Well done Isla!

My youngest pupil so far! 🥰
A lot of people think it's important to start music as early as possible, and while it's incredibly beneficial for young children, in truth it's great for your brain at any age, as well as being fun and fulfilling!
Drop me a message today for a free, no-strings taster session (piano, woodwind or brass).
