SO This little gem turned up today, needed a restring and some TLC but plays beautifully and sounds very warm. Needs a few tweaks and some minor repairs, the serial number says 6 7 5 0 6 only! If anyone out there can Identify the year (1963) Then the student this belongs to will be very happy. Gibson

So two wins in one, Tulula aged 13 has just written and recorded her first song! She was also using my brand new Hagstrom guitar for the tracking as she is left handed too! The kid has great taste in music: Including Joan Jett Kate Bush Linkin Park and Janus Stark of course! Well done.

A good friend of mine is selling his whole studio recording set up - it's a great package and is in good condition - would normally cost nearly double the £900 he wants for it. PM Me if you are serious about upgrading your set up!

So, when students produce their own music it's the ultimate for me, In this Instance I was tutoring back in 2008/2009 and we were demoing songs back then - a couple of which are on this CD - he then went on to form a band The Buzzrats and added two more of my students along the way Chris Barrie on bass and James Taylor on guitar both very accomplished players, many recordings and shows later this Best Of compilation produced by my favourite studio boffin Andy Hawkins has emerged - What does it sound like? Imagine if Richard Thompson emerged from The Fens - songs that are introspective emotive and deep. Do check it out, it's a real treat.

Cool as heck guitar this week is this a 2009 Rickenbacker 660 excellent colour, lovely smooth tone, some of my students find some incredible instruments!

Happy New Year all! Back hard at it with teaching and this one came up today (aptly and sadly so it's been 40 years since the great left us. This a little known track off of the Chinatown album, with some sterling rhythm and riff work from & A dark, edgy tense track. Les Paul heaven.

Well it's been another bumper year of teaching, plenty of keen new students have come good on their instruments and I have some great players who have really impressed me with their progress. On a personal front I have been welcomed into the fabulous Janus Stark on bass, the new single Last Call/Gimme Everything is available now on Bandcamp and we have some impressive shows booked in for 2026. I am also playing bass for Celebrating Bad Brains along with the uber talented Spike T Smith on drums. Musically things are the best they've been in quite a while.
