Most people who've had a panic attack thought they were dying.
Not being dramatic. That's genuinely what it feels like.
Racing heart. Tight chest. Can't breathe. Every signal your body sends says danger and your rational mind gets completely drowned out.
But here's what's actually happening: your threat response fired without a real threat. And then your brain read the symptoms as more evidence of danger. Which made it worse. Which made the symptoms worse. Round and round.
Not you breaking. Not you going mad. Your nervous system doing exactly what it was designed to do, just with the sensitivity turned up way too high.
