🌟 Two champions. One very proud GPUTC! 🌟

Last night, two of our amazing staff members, Pete Kelley and Sonia Rogers, attended the Cambridgeshire Chamber of Commerce Centenary Dinner at the magnificent Peterborough Cathedral 🎉

As part of the Chamber’s centenary celebrations, Pete and Sonia were recognised among 100 people who make a difference through the work they do within our city and wider community. 👏

🏆 Pete was recognised as a Workplace Champion
🌟 Sonia was recognised as a Talent Champion

We are incredibly proud to see them both recognised for the contribution they make, not only here at Greater Peterborough UTC, but across our wider community.

Their work is instrumental in helping make GPUTC a place where our young people feel they belong, recognise their potential and have access to as many opportunities as possible as they prepare for their futures. 💙

From creating a positive and supportive workplace culture to building relationships with businesses, employers and our community, Pete and Sonia both work incredibly hard to make a real difference to our students.

We might be a little biased, but we think they’re both rather brilliant! 😉💙

Well… that was a busy one! 😅💙

Last week we welcomed prospective Year 6 students and their families to our Open Evening, and to say we were blown away by the turnout would be an understatement!

The building was buzzing, but the real stars of the evening were our students. 🌟 They chatted to families, shared their experiences and showed our visitors exactly what our community is all about.

And judging by the wonderful feedback we received, they made quite the impression! 💙

So, once we’ve caught our breath… we’re opening the doors again! 🙌

🎨✨ Amazing Creativity from Our Year 7 Students! ✨🎨

Just two weeks into their journey with us, our Year 7 students have already impressed us with their talent and creativity in Art & Design.

As part of a joining activity in their art lessons, students completed a drawing task, and we are delighted to share a selection of their fantastic work. The quality, imagination and effort on display are truly remarkable, showcasing what a wonderful group of young artists we have joined our school this year.

We are incredibly proud of how enthusiastically they have embraced this creative challenge and can't wait to see how their skills, confidence and artistic styles continue to develop throughout their learning journey.

Well done, Year 7! We look forward to seeing many more amazing Art & Design projects from you in the months and years ahead. 👏🎨🌟

💪🌊 Mud, Water and Determination! 🌊💪

During the summer, a number of our amazing staff took on the incredible challenge of the Insane Terrain obstacle course at Burghley House!

Faced with mud, water, climbing obstacles and plenty of tough challenges along the way, our GPUTC team showed exactly what we stand for every day. Their determination, resilience, teamwork and positive attitude shone through from start to finish.

The mud and water might have put up a fight, but they were no match for our staff! 👏

It was fantastic to see our colleagues demonstrating the same values outside of school that they encourage and inspire in our students every day.

Well done to everyone who took part and represented Greater Peterborough UTC with such enthusiasm, courage and team spirit! 💙

🧡 Su***de Awareness Day

Today, we join together to raise awareness, encourage kindness and remind our community that support is always available.

🐛 Ever wondered why we "debug" computers?

Back on this day September 1947, engineers working on an early computer discovered a real moth trapped inside a relay. The team recorded the incident in their logbook, and the term "debugging" became part of computing history!

Today, debugging is still a vital part of coding. It's about persistence, critical thinking and solving problems when things don't go to plan.

At Greater Peterborough UTC, our students develop these same skills every day through hands-on projects, programming challenges and employer-linked learning. Whether they're creating software, engineering solutions or exploring emerging technologies, they learn that mistakes aren't failures, they're opportunities to learn and improve.

📐➗ "When will I ever use this in real life?"

It's a question many students ask when learnings!

Last week, our Year 8 students began exploring powers and roots in Maths. To help bring their learning to life, they watched a video showing how these mathematical skills are used in a wide range of real-world jobs, from engineering and construction to computer science, finance and data analysis.

At Greater Peterborough UTC, we are passionate about helping students understand not only what they are learning, but why they are learning it. Making clear links between classroom learning and future careers helps students see the relevance of their studies and the opportunities that these skills can unlock.
