Lots of playing with corn flour today. Even though the children simply explored it with spoons and the hands. It gave us lots of opitunities to talk about the scientific elements about it such as solid and liquids and how molecules change. Xx

Water pistol fun this week. Squirting their guns a different words or sounds (depending what level the children were at.) Practicing some of literacy skills. Xxz

The children loved their ice and paint tray today. They really enjoyed practicing using pipettes. Learning about mixing colours. We also covered a bit of science talking about the ice cubes melting because it's hot. Learning about solid and liquids. Xxz

We have started to look at recording quantities. First we all worked together to sort some shells into 3 different piles according to haw they looked. The children then recorded their finding by making a mark on the chart for each shell in their pile. We then discussed which shells there was theist of and least of. # # #

The last few weeks we have been learning about caterpillars, butterfly's and moths. Obviously we read the all important hungry caterpillar and day monkey night monkey. We made caterpillars with our names on. We made caterpillars/moths cutting shapes into them using the stamp cutters. We found a moths in the house and observed talking about the different bodyparts before letting it go the garden. # # #

Yesterday the children showed lots of confidence jumping off the step and landing on their practicing their physical skill and the skill of taking turns. Xx

Today we sorted different objects into the materials they made from. Lining about there different properties, such hard, soft, heavy, light, bendy, shiny ..... covering these areas of learning:understanding the world, exploring medias and materials, communication and language.

This we week we are learning about Latvia. We learnt about the woman Uljana Semjonova who was one of tallest women and a basket ball player. We built up a giant tower with bricks using a meter stick to measure then layed down next to it to see if we were as tall as the uljana Semjonova. Xx covering these areas of learning:people and communities, and maths.
