A Tribute to Sammie Joe – Becci Bellairs

I remember the first day I met Sammie Joe – a quiet, polite, lost little soul with a bleach-blonde pixie, cut sat in the corner of the room. She was such a cutie. We talked about nothing and, somehow, that nothing turned into something, and we formed a connection that stayed with us over the years.

Over time, I saw so many different versions of Sam – every hair colour under the sun, many hair styles (not all of them good!), and even a few accents along the way. And of course, there were many sides to Sam, not all of them cute, but every single one of them uniquely her.

Sam and I had our moments. She gave me sleepless nights, but she also gave me some of my biggest belly laughs. We shared good times and bad times, jokes and laughter, tears when things felt heavy, and lessons we both learned along the way. But the thing I am grateful for the most is our bond always grew stronger.

I’m not going to stand here today and tell you Sammie was perfect, because none of us are. We all carry our faults, our scars. But behind all of that, Sam had the most beautiful soul. Sammie fought throughout her life with so much courage and strength but never let her pain take away her warmth. She was fiercely loyal, caring, thoughtful, and so incredibly loving. When Sam loved you, she loved you hard. She would fight with you, fight for you, but never against you. That was just who she was. To know Sam, was to love her.

Sam left this world far too soon. But I hope everyone here can hold onto the good times, the laughs, the memories that make you smile when you think of her. Because knowing Sam, you couldn’t spend time in her presence without her leaving a mark on your heart.
She never took herself too seriously. She had this way of turning even the dullest, most boring tasks into something funny. That was her gift – bringing light into the darkest spaces, laughter into the most mundane moments.

Sammie Joe was a special soul. A young lady who deserved more than she ever believed she did, and who was worth more than she ever realised.

You can shed tears that she is gone now,
Or you can smile because she has lived
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her anymore,
Or you can be full of the love that you shared together.
You can remember her and only that she is gone now,
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

Sam – Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life, for letting me in, for loving me and for allowing me to love you too.

Thank you for the memories you gave us all, for the laughter we shared and the mark you left on this world.

Sleep tight darling 💔❤️‍🩹❤️
