Nationally, around 10–15% of apprentices who complete their End-Point Assessment (EPA) achieve a Distinction.

At PDT, we are proud to have achieved a 57% Distinction rate across all programmes we deliver.

This is a significant accomplishment and reflects the dedication of our teachers, the strength of our support systems, and their ability to recognise and develop the potential in every student.

We still have a few months left before the end of the academic year, and we have more EPAs booked in, so we look forward to building on this success even further.

We are incredibly proud of what our learners achieve and grateful to the staff who make it possible.

Throughout his apprenticeship, Alex demonstrated an excellent understanding of the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required of an Engineering Operative. He also showed a strong commitment to workplace health and safety, with a thorough understanding of key requirements including HASAWA, PPE, RIDDOR, and COSHH.

As part of his practical assessment, Alex accurately identified and selected the correct materials from engineering drawings and demonstrated sound engineering practice by cutting materials slightly oversize to ensure they were held securely in the chuck during machining.

This achievement reflects Alex’s dedication, hard work, and attention to detail. We are proud of what he has accomplished and look forward to seeing his continued success in the engineering industry.

Congratulations to Ben on successfully completing his Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship with a Distinction! 🎉

Ben was initially quite nervous and quiet during his assessment, but once he got set up and started machining, his confidence shone through. He demonstrated excellent compliance with health and safety procedures throughout, including completing all required machine safety documentation to a high standard.

Congratulations to Matthew on successfully completing his Engineering Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship with a Distinction.

Matthew was understandably nervous at the beginning of the observation; however, he quickly settled once he began the practical element of the assessment. Throughout the observation, he fully complied with all company policies and procedures, consistently implementing the required safety precautions and wearing the appropriate PPE.

He demonstrated a very strong skill set and a solid underpinning knowledge of the machinery and equipment being used. Matthew worked confidently and competently, applying his technical knowledge effectively while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism. His performance reflected the dedication and commitment he has shown throughout his apprenticeship, making his Distinction a well-deserved achievement.
