On Friday 19th June, we were delighted to welcome The Rt Hon Baroness Gillian Shephard to our schools.
Her visit began at Park Lane Primary School where she spent time talking with pupils and hearing about their experiences. This was a particularly special visit, as Baroness Shephard previously opened the school's South Wing in January 1995 while serving as Secretary of State for Education.
She then visited New Road Primary School, where she met with Year 6 pupils, talking with them about current issues and learning about how laws are debated in the UK.
The visit concluded with lunch alongside Sixth Form students from Sir Harry Smith Community College, Josh and Jack, who were awarded certificates for community service. The students were recognised for their kindness and quick thinking when they recently assisted a member of the public who was experiencing a seizure in the street.
We are also pleased to announce that Baroness Shephard has become a member of our Trust. We look forward to working with her and benefiting from her wealth of experience and commitment to education.
