We’ve had a lovely week visiting different toddler groups, with each one offering something a little different for the children to enjoy and explore.

One of the things I love about childminding is that our days are full of variety. We’re not always in the same setting — we get out and about, visit different places, meet new people and experience new activities.

These little outings give the children opportunities to build confidence, socialise, explore new environments and learn about the world around them.

Home-from-home care with plenty of little adventures along the way!

Today we enjoyed reading one of our favourites, Dear Zoo.

We brought the story to life using our zoo animals, hiding them inside boxes . The children had lots of fun discovering which animal was hiding inside and noticing that some animals were too big to fit

We then extended the children’s learning by experimenting with a large cardboard tube. The children placed the animals inside and watched excitedly as they slid down and appeared at the other end

Who knew a tree stump could bring so much fun!

Today we enjoyed completing our big town floor puzzle together. As we searched for the correct pieces, we talked about the different shapes of the edges — looking for straight sides, corners and curves and using these clues to work out where each piece might fit.

Once our town started coming together, we used the picture to make up our own story about what was happening. We chatted about the people we could see, where they might be going and what could happen next.

Today the children turned a simple patch of earth into their very own little world of imagination!

Using sticks, they worked together to dig a hole before adding water, leaves and other natural items they found around them. There was lots of stirring, mixing and experimenting as their creation became mud pies and bird nests

Such a simple activity brought so much learning — teamwork, communication, imagination, problem-solving and exploring different textures and materials — all while having lots of messy fun outdoors.

What a lovely summer we’ve had!

We’ve made so many wonderful memories together, enjoying lots of days out and adventures. We’ve visited zoos , farms, parks and enjoyed plenty of outdoor fun, exploring and learning along the way.

It’s been wonderful watching the children discover new things, see the animals, enjoy new experiences and, most importantly, have lots of fun together.

A summer full of smiles, adventures and happy memories!

🌻 Sunflowers 🌻
we planted our sunflower seeds, we filled our pots with compost, then we opened the packets to see what the seeds looked like. It was the perfect opportunity to practice our counting as we placed the seeds into the pots. 🌻

We made our own sunflowers using playdoh, adding sunflower hearts and black sunflower seeds to decorate them. We made seed pictures and looked at different fruits that contain seeds .
