CAMBRIDGE HALF MARATHON. Possibly the most eventful run I've ever done 💩
On the build up for the marathon I've had a dodgy stomach. I imodiumed up yesterday and this morning hoping it would help.
Got to mile 6 and my gut was churning so I stopped for a wee to hope it helped. 7.5miles in it was chronic poo had started coming.
I ran round into a farmers field and finished the job off. I had to take my shorts off and then wipe with the underwear then run with no underwear on for the next 6.5miles.
Chaffing soon caught up with me and in a serious burning way. It was pain.
I thought about pulling out then I thought just keep going.
The crowd support towards the end was amazing. Even though I wasn't sure if they were cheering because I looked like I pooed myself and running slightly oddly.
I managed to push on and finish the half marathon in 1 hour 56mins. Not bad all things considered.
I went to the medical tent after the event and asked for some cream but they didn't have any.
Now home after closer inspection I have an open skin wound on my butt cheek from the rubbing and a very sore sack.
Safe to say I've got plenty of sudocrem on! I'm also very much doing a good John Wayne impression.

Last but not least. Massive well done to Kyle who ran the half marathon in 1 hour 42 and hitting a PB. 👏👏

You know dry January isn't complete until you have got a picture of yourself on top of a mountain.
When you have completed a few (dry Januarys, mountains), you can use pictures for a lifetime like proper sober influences on social media.

I'm 6 weeks into my daily dips. Here's 6 things about it I've learnt so far...
1) It's the ultimate form of discipline. I hardly ever want to get out of a nice warm bed in the morning, and the first thing I do is jump in a cold tub.
2) It's gives me massive amounts of mental clarity. I can have a really fast mind. When I submerge myself and start breathing through the cold. Suddenly, my quick pace mind slows down.
3) Make it fun. Set rules. The only rule for my tub is that you have to wear budgy smugglers to enter. Who doesn't love waking up and slipping in the budgys first thing like they are on holiday?
4) Don't push it too hard too early. Research beforehand every 1 degree Celsius do a minute submerged at the start. Let your body embrace it before you push it harder.
5) You can put it off and put it off. It's easier just to fu***ng do it and go for it. I started by staring at the water for about a minute before I got in. Now, it's a case of removing the lid and going for it. You know you're going to do it anyway, so why delay?
6) You feel fu***ng alive when you feel the blood flow rushing through your veins. Then, when you get out, the tingle sensation is better than most drugs I've tried.
This is my first cold tub. It's the best present I received last year! Before tubing, I was cold showering for 2 years. Tubing is next level.

As I sit drinking my coffee. Here is a picture of me in the gym to give you motivation 💪
I haven't been to the gym or been out for a run this year. I've not put added pressure on going hard on the first week back after the Christmas & New Years period.
I might go tomorrow if I can be arsed.
Anyway... have a good time doing burpees and killing yourself this week. Hopefully, that mentality doesn't put you off for another year.
Hope to see you in the gym in December 2024. ✌️

At the start of this week I was "off my fu***ng head!"
Riddled with Imposter syndrome and had all my insecurities flying.
-Not feeling good enough.
-Not wanting to do something I want to achieve because of my mindset.
-Eating the feels and kicking myself in mentally because of it.
-Letting my head tell me that I'm going to be caught out and people will see the real Olly Pegg whose a nut job.
Why did I get those feelings.... Well, it's simple.
I was going into a situation where I was new, and I didn't feel comfortable.
The good thing is. I recognise that FEELINGS and THOUGHTS are NOT REALITY.
The reality of life is completely different from the reality that goes on in my head.
Life lesson-
You are going to feel like an imposter when you are doing something new because you are an imposter. You are imposing yourself on a new experience that you have never done.
Let's kick on 🤙
