Huge congratulations to our brilliant Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 students! 👏

They spent the day at the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge, taking part in the Philosothon - competing against private and grammar schools and absolutely holding their own.
From the teleportation dilemma to the ‘pig that wants to be eaten’, the double-slit problem, and even whether we should remove human suffering, they tackled some seriously mind‑bending questions! 🤯

Their confidence, curiosity and teamwork were outstanding throughout.

Mrs Walton and Miss Lopes are incredibly proud of every single one of them - what an amazing effort! 🌟

Our Year 10 Dance and Year 12 Performing Arts students had the exciting opportunity to work with a choreographer from the University of Lincoln. Together, they explored and developed their compositional skills in preparation for their upcoming Year 11 and Year 13 courses.
We were so impressed with their creativity, focus, and collaboration, they produced some truly lovely work. Well done to all involved! 👏✨

🌊 Drowning Prevention Week (14–21 June) 🌊

We’re proud to support Drowning Prevention Week, led by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), helping families stay safe while enjoying the water. 💙

Children are naturally curious and often drawn to water - whether it’s a pool, beach, or even a garden pond. Taking time to understand water safety and sharing this knowledge with your child can truly save lives.

What a brilliant day for Year 12 at Anglia Ruskin University! 🎉

Led by Miss Van Lier, students took part in a Business Ideas Competition and impressed judges with their creativity, teamwork and innovation.

A huge congratulations to one of our teams who placed 3rd with their powerful idea aimed at reducing loneliness among elderly people - an inspiring and meaningful concept. 💛

We are so proud of all students who took part - they truly rose to the challenge! 👏

Some of our Year 7 students have the absolute pleasure of visiting Stratford-upon-Avon’s Royal Shakespeare Theatre to see the RSC perform The Tempest — and not only that, Sir Kenneth Branagh is performing! 🎭

Many of our younger students will know him as Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but of course he is a renowned actor with a celebrated stage career and a particular talent for truly treading the boards.

🎡✨ Carnival Week 2026 – Bigger Than Ever! ✨🎡

We’re excited to bring something truly special to Stanground this year… for the very first time, we have our very own fairground on site! 🎉🎠

Alongside a range of themed zones across the academy, students will be able to explore different activities, take on challenges, get creative, and enjoy time with friends in a vibrant carnival atmosphere. 🌈

🎡 Our brand-new fairground experience – bringing all the excitement of a real carnival right here to STA!

This is a fantastic moment for our school community and a brilliant opportunity for students to get involved, show their spirit, and make unforgettable memories.

♻️ Give Your Uniform a Second Chance – Support Our Community!

At Stanground Academy, we are proud to support sustainability while helping our families. We are encouraging donations of pre-loved school uniform to share with students who need it. We welcome blazers, jumpers, trousers, shirts, skirts, PE kit and shoes, and we are happy to accept items that may need small repairs. All donations can be dropped off at reception, where they will be washed, sorted and made available free of charge to support other students. 💚

A huge thank you to the families who have already donated over the past few months - your generosity is making a real difference to our school community.

Please come along, get involved, and help make a difference. 💚

All this week we have intervention sessions on for year 11. Don’t miss out come and get extra support before your exams. Everyday you attend will also earn you a day of non uniform so you can enjoy that first week back in style.

What an incredible end to an amazing half-term! 🌟

Students have been recognised for fantastic attitudes, attendance and behaviour with a HUGE range of rewards including non-uniform day, pizza brunches, Year 7 cinema trips, “Splash into Summer” treats and flash rewards! 🍕🎬☀️

Over 80 ice cream sundaes were won, alongside Pizza Hut lunches and even TWO mountain bikes complete with safety gear 🚲🍨

And of course, plenty of beach-themed prizes too — inflatable flamingos, unicorns and more! 🦩🦄

Enjoy the sunshine everyone, and we’ll see students back on 1 June for a normal 8:30am start. Year 11 and 13 students — good luck with revision sessions next week! 💪📚
