About Us - Our Story

We are a small business with a huge social impact! We provide Equine assisted activities therapy (EAAT) and Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) from our centre in the heart of the Carse of Gowrie in beautiful Perth & Kinross. Our aim is to help our clients increase their self-esteem and mental well being through their interactions with ponies.

Mission & Values

Thera-Pony was created out of a strong passion, a shared vision and a ceaseless commitment to making meaningful life improvements easy and manageable for our clients. Since opening, we’ve had the opportunity to help countless clients acquire foundational skills, develop new techniques and grow their self-confidence we have helped them move forward in their healing journey.

We provide a wide range of activities & programs to support clients from all backgrounds. Our Ponies Helping People Program is our flagship program in which we work with children & young people aged 5-25 from across Tayside and Angus who are struggling with mental health issues, emotional and behavioural problems or learning difficulties. The Ponies Helping People Program is an intervention where Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL) is delivered across block sessions as either 1-1 or small group sessions. They are fun and effective and each session is tailored to the individual client's needs, these are client-led sessions, and goal oriented.

Schools & Nursery off-yard visits

As well as the services we run on-yard we host a few across different Schools and Nurseries within Tayside - we have worked with over 9 Primary schools and High Schools in Dundee and Angus and we have weekly visits to Oranges and Lemons nursery chains across Dundee visiting their two main nurseries weekly.

working in the schools with the ponies we use Equine Assisted Activities (EAAT). This benefits children by improving cognitive and sensory processing, emotional regulation as well as fine and gross motor skills. We will work with each school to build a plan to suit the children's needs and key learning outcomes. We link our session with the SHANARRI indicators on the wellbeing wheel to ensure we Get It Right For Every Child.

We also visit care homes & residential living centres across Tayside.
