🚜🌾 Nearly 300 children, countless questions, and a day packed with farming, food and fun!
Our Food & Farming Day was a huge success, helping young people connect with the countryside and learn where their food comes from.
A special thank you to Jim Fairlie MSP, Minister for Agriculture, Marine and the Islands, for taking the time to visit, meet with our Chair, and see first-hand the value of agricultural education.
And an enormous thank you to Solsgirth Home Farm for hosting us, and to all the incredible volunteers whose hard work, enthusiasm and support made the day possible. Quite simply, these events could not happen without you.

Volunteering with RHET at the Royal Highland Show is an inspiring and rewarding experience. From guiding school groups through hands-on activities to answering questions and sharing the links between farming, food, and everyday life, every moment is full of learning and discovery. From a child grinding flour for the first time to a teenager realising milk doesn’t just “come from the shop.”

The RHET team makes you feel welcome, and being part of the Show, surrounded by livestock, machinery, and proud rural communities, gives a real sense of purpose.

Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or trying it for the first time, it’s a chance to make a difference, meet fantastic people, and help young people connect with the world of food and farming.

We can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and new volunteers to this year’s vegetable-themed activities!
