🌟 We Are Delighted to Achieve Our Digital Schools Award! 🌟

Over the past two years, we have worked hard to embed digital play and learning throughout our nursery, and we are incredibly proud to have achieved the Digital Schools Award.

A huge thank you to our wonderful children, families, and amazing staff team who have supported us on this journey. Our staff have embraced every opportunity to learn, develop their skills, and embed digital learning into everyday practice, and this achievement is a testament to their hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication.

We are also especially grateful to our parents and carers for completing questionnaires, providing resources, and sharing such positive feedback along the way. Your support has been invaluable.

This award recognises the commitment of our whole nursery community, and we are excited to continue developing digital learning opportunities for our children.

Thank you for helping us celebrate this fantastic achievement! 🎉💻✨

It was fantastic to come together for our recent staff meeting and reflect on the continued strength, commitment, and professionalism of our dedicated team 💪

A key focus of the session was deepening our understanding of trauma-informed practice. Staff engaged in meaningful discussions around how trauma can impact behaviour, relationships, and emotional wellbeing, and how we can respond with empathy, consistency, and care in our day-to-day practice.

We also worked through a range of child protection and wellbeing scenarios, giving everyone the opportunity to share knowledge, reflect on best practice, and ensure we are all confident in recognising and responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns. These discussions reinforced the importance of working together to keep children and young people safe.

Another important part of the meeting was exploring different communication styles. We looked at how the way we communicate can influence outcomes, relationships, and trust, and considered how we can adapt our approaches to meet individual needs more effectively.

Alongside this, staff took time to reflect on their own professional development, identifying key areas for growth and continuing to build on the skills that support high-quality care and positive outcomes.

Overall, the meeting was a great opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and strengthen our shared commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for everyone we work with ✨

On Friday the pre-school children visited St Ninians Primary School for their first Play on Pedals session. The children were excited and curious as they entered the playground area where the bikes and equipment were set up.

During the session, the children were introduced to the different parts of a pedal bike, including the wheels, pedals, handlebars and seat. Abbey used visual flashcards to help the children recognise and name each part. The children were encouraged to point to the parts on the bikes and repeat their names, which helped build their understanding of the equipment.

A key focus of today’s session was balance and bike knowledge. The children were shown how to safely put on and adjust their helmets, learning the importance of safety before riding. Staff supported the children to ensure helmets were fitted correctly and comfortably.

The children were also introduced to the “M Check”, which helps riders check that their bike is safe to ride. Abbey demonstrated how to carry out the safety check, encouraging the children to look at different parts of the bike to make sure everything was ready before using it. This helped the children begin to understand the importance of checking their equipment before riding.

Several balancing exercises were included to help develop coordination and confidence. The children practised picking up their bikes safely, gliding, and balancing while holding the handlebars. Many children showed determination and enthusiasm as they attempted the new skills, encouraging one another and celebrating small successes.

Overall, the children engaged well in their first Play on Pedals session. They demonstrated growing confidence, listening skills, and an awareness of bike safety. The session provided a positive introduction to cycling while supporting the development of balance, coordination, and physical wellbeing.

Today at nursery we celebrated World Book Day with lots of excitement and enthusiasm from the children. Many of the children arrived dressed up as their favourite characters, proudly showing their costumes to their friends🥰 They also brought in their favourite books from home, which they were eager to share with the group📚

Throughout the day, the children took part in a variety of planned experiences linked to stories and books. We enjoyed group story times where the children listened carefully and engaged with the stories by pointing at pictures, talking about characters, and sharing their thoughts. The children also explored creative activities inspired by books, allowing them to express their ideas and imagination 💭

It was wonderful to see the children showing such an interest in books and storytelling. They demonstrated confidence when sharing their favourite stories and enjoyed exploring books together with their peers, helping to promote a love of reading and early literacy in a fun and engaging way ✨
