We finished writing our euphemistic estate agent adverts yesterday; the houses which the children chose were falling down, and accentuating the positives required a lot of imagination / creative problem solving! 😂 They did a fabulous job!

Fabulous work tonight! 🌟 We focused upon time and times tables in maths, and after our Boggle starter activity, had fun learning about euphemisms in English. We will write our own euphemistic, estate agent schedules for “characterful” properties next week! 🏡

Having fun revising multiples and factors with Trilemma in our maths lesson this week (differentiated questions mean that each child is quizzed at their level!). Plus, we were learning about metaphors in our English lesson and acting these out, as well as discussing examples and using imagery in our own creative writing! 🌟

Another fun and productive night with my primary tutees! 🌟 I just love to see the progress they are making, and to have the time for ‘in the moment’, unhurried, 1-2-1 learning conversations that sometimes we just don’t have time for in a busy classroom. It makes all the difference!

My tutees always bring their sparkle to lessons! 💎 They are definitely up for a game or team challenge, and have become such good friends! 🥰 A couple of children were poorly tonight and so couldn’t attend, sadly (winter bugs, be gone!) - but we are looking forward to catching up with them next week! 🌟

A very tense memory game is underway here! 😂 We occasionally play this game during literacy lessons, to practise memorising a big list of items. Then I take away one item while the children close their eyes, and the winner is the first one to shout out what’s missing!

We make up a story to help us memorise everything on the tray first, and the children love it! 🥰 It’s amazing how well this works - speed and accuracy of recall dramatically improve as a result - and this will prove to be a valuable, transferable technique, for when pupils have to remember lists of facts for exams in the years ahead! I’ve found it’s also a very good skill to have for doing a Tesco shop 😂

My happy maths tutees, snapped last night! 😀 We were warming up with a game of times table bingo, which they love! It’s great for practising quick-fire recall of times table and division facts 🌟 We then moved onto specially prepared, personalised programmes of work, in line with individual targets 🎯

My English sessions are currently full but 2 spaces have become available in my P4-7 Maths sessions Tuesdays 6-7pm, due to a couple of tutees finding their confidence, becoming skilled up and moving on (proud tutor moment! 🥹❤️☺️) If you think your child could benefit from these sessions, please get in touch asap - spaces don’t tend to come up often (usually only once or twice a year).
