Our toddlers had a fantastic time in Cooking Club this week making their very own delicious pizza pinwheels! 👩🍳🧑🍳
The children used their fine motor skills as they carefully spread the tomato sauce and sprinkled the cheese onto the pastry. They also developed their hand-eye coordination as they added cheese , showing independence by making their own choices, and problem-solving skills as they worked out where to place each ingredient.
Throughout the activity, the children practised their communication and language skills by talking about the ingredients, describing what they were doing, and following simple instructions. They also explored early maths concepts by talking about more and less, counting their toppings, and noticing different shapes as we rolled and cut the pastry.
Cooking activities like this help children to build confidence, encourage healthy eating habits, and provide wonderful opportunities to explore new textures, smells, and tastes through hands-on learning.
Which is why we love being able to provide once a week cooking club sessions to children all across the setting. ❤️
