At the end of term our Pre-school Rising 5s enjoyed a fantastic Sports Challenge Morning.
The children enthusiastically took part in a variety of activities, including a space hopper race, stilt balancing, a running race, a goal-scoring challenge, an egg and spoon race, and many more-all fantastic activities for supporting their motor skills.
We were delighted to welcome parents along to join in the fun, and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the activities together.
A huge thank you to our Year 6 pupils for their fantastic help, enthusiasm, and encouragement throughout the morning. They were brilliant role models and helped make the event such a success.
Well done to all of our Pre-school children for taking part and giving every challenge their best effort.

The children in our younger Seedlings Class have used many opportunities to explore mark-making, such as using their dinosaurs to create patterns in playdough and paint. It is important for the children to strengthen their fingers, and they very much enjoy doing this by rolling out the playdough.

During the week a butterfly flew in and joined us in the classroom. We noticed the markings on the wings, which led to the children asking lots of questions. After looking them up on the internet we identified that it was a Red Admiral. The class were excited to make their own butterflies by learning about mirror images, using a printing technique.

Within our maths curriculum the children in Saplings class used seashells to practise counting, whilst developing their fine motor skills, using tweezers to help them count out pretend pearls using 1-2-1 correspondence. They also made repeating patterns on an octopus legs. Great work Everyone!

Our Hopscotch classes (Seedlings and Saplings) have been enjoying the warmer weather and learning about the season of Summer. They enjoyed sensory play using shaving foam as pretend ice cream, talking about their likes and dislikes. The children also made ice cream pictures on the light box. Communication and language is an important area for our children’s development, and this gave them many opportunities to explain, justify and ask questions.

In Saplings Class, the children love to explore the Eco garden. They enjoyed their first taste of this year’s garden produce last week as there were strawberries and raspberries ready to be picked. How lucky we all are to have such a fantastic school garden!

In their drawing club lessons last week, the children focused on drawing circles while learning how to hold pencils correctly. They also continued with working on learning to write their names, focussing on letter sounds and recognising the letter order. These early writing skills are important key building blocks that will support the children being great writers later on.

During Boats Week the children made boats and explored mathematical language to describe the shapes they used. The children also used many circles of card to make boats by folding them to make semi-circle boats that rocked on curved edges. Great work Everyone.
