🐷🚜 E-I-E-I-O! Year 7 have been investigating foods from Old MacDonald's farm, using iodine solution to test for starch and develop their practical laboratory skills. A fantastic lesson full of curiosity, discovery and hands-on science! 🧪✨

✏️ Creativity is flowing in Design & Technology as Year 8 begin designing their pewter keyrings and magnets. Students are currently developing and refining their ideas before casting them in molten pewter later in the project.

🦈 What an unforgettable experience for our Year 7 students, who spent the night sleeping beneath the sharks at Plymouth Aquarium!

The overnight trip gave students a unique opportunity to learn about marine life, explore the aquarium after hours, and create lasting memories with their friends. 🌊🐠

Our Year 10 rugby boys have represented the Academy with incredible commitment, teamwork, and pride this season, and now we’d love to reward their hard work with a brand-new rugby kit for September! 🏉

🎓✨ Our Year 9 students enjoyed an inspiring visit to the Penryn Campus at Falmouth University this week, experiencing university life first-hand! From campus tours to creative workshops, students explored future pathways while developing teamwork, communication and creativity skills.

We are incredibly proud of how positively they embraced the experience and broadened their horizons. 🌍👏

🧭 Year 7 have been exploring the school site and working together in teams to find their checkpoints! Great teamwork, lots of energy… and best of all, nobody got lost! 👏✨

✨ Year 8 have been getting creative with their incredible wire and foil figures, inspired by sculptor Alberto Giacometti.

Using wire armatures and foil, students shaped their own ‘Figure in Action’ sculptures before experimenting with photography techniques and lighting to create striking abstract shadows 📸🎨

Next step: transforming these amazing images into exciting Graphic Design pieces! This project has been a fantastic way for students to explore the links between art, sculpture, photography and graphic design, and discover how creative subjects play such an important role in visual communication. 👏✨
