Alistair Appleton's Mindsprings

Alistair Appleton's Mindsprings Learn to meditate with Alistair! Mindsprings is an organisation exploring the transformative power of meditation, run by Alistair Appleton.

Mindsprings looks at the way that mindfulness practice combined with the ideas of integrative therapy can give us tools to live happier, freer, more creative lives - not just surviving but flourishing. Paradoxically, the root of this ability to be happy starts in accepting the way we are. Compassion, kindness, care. These are the qualities that underpin happiness - along with a sense of humour. Co

Palden Jenkins is one of Cornwall’s great Elders. A polymath with deep knowledge of Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred geometry of The county’s stone circles and cliff sanctuaries. His last book The Shining Land is wonderful, easy-to-read guide to the energy of West Penwith’s magic stones.
Palden has been living with terminal illness for a while now and friends have gathered to raise some money to get a coffee-table edition of the Shining Land yo press before he dies.
If you’re interested in Cornwall, the wisdom of the Land and honouring our Elders, do click the Kickstarter and chip into this very heartfelt project.

I'm off tomorrow for our annual retreat up on Holy Island in Arran. So excited to be exploring an early Buddhist text, the Satipatthana Sutta for a whole week. And it promises to be less hot up in Scotland which is a relief after a baking week with Mingyur Rinpoche in Hampshire. So blessed to have so much retreat in my summer!
The Zooms have been on hold through August but they're back from the 1st September, so do come along for those.

NEW ESCAPE on the IPLAYER

This was such a magical shoot in Llangollen, Wales. It had it all: mystical castles, Tolkien-like landscapes, incredible properties and the most charming house buyers.

Is Tonglen dangerous? Discover how this Tibetan practice—breathing in suffering and breathing out ease—can actually reduce fear and transform your relationship with pain. Read the full article to learn the practice, its benefits, and what to watch for. https://wix.to/TpbFz0w

Tonglen is a Tibetan Buddhist practice that trains the mind to breathe in suffering and breathe out comfort and ease. This is, of course, the absolute opposite of what our minds habitually do. We have been trained our whole life to cling to pleasure and push suffering away. But paradoxically, this m...

TO-DOTO DO LISTS ARE EVIL: From our session this morning. We were discussing the destructive nature of To-Do Lists. How they erode the pleasure in doing things and swap that for a paltry tick-in-a-box.

Join our practice sessions and discussions each Monday morning, Tuesday evening and Thursday morning.
