This summer the incredible team of people at TSAP Travel’s delivered our FIRST EVER school trip in Madagascar 🇲🇬

We could not have hoped for a better group of young people to join us. The students from D**e House Academy in Hartlepool were phenomenal to say the least.

Everyday they showed up with an incredible attitude, a desire to get stuck in and a thirst for knowledge.

They were a credit to the school and the UK and made a difference in Madagascar that will last for generations to come.

They inspired people to learn English, enhanced the CV’s of the local people that co-delivered the trip, enables employees to give bonuses and demonstrated what it means to be a part of a local community and not just a tourist.

We can’t wait to welcome more students to the island of Nosy be, Madagascar.

5 years ago I turned down an offer to study a Masters in Youth Work and today I’m getting ready to deliver school trip in Madagascar 🇲🇬

I also work at Clark’s, so you know there’s still a long way to go but in so proud of how far we’ve come as a team!

Want to see as much of the world as possible in 3 weeks? 🌍✈️

Our top tips:

• Make the most of layovers. We squeezed in 22 hours in Qatar, an overnight stop in Hong Kong, and even had time to visit the waterfall in Singapore.

• Skyscanner is your best friend when planning multi-stop trips.

• Don’t just rely on comparison sites—sometimes booking directly with the airline gives you longer layover options, plus perks like hotel stays and meal vouchers.

• Take overnight flights where you can. You’ll save on accommodation and maximise your daylight hours for exploring.

• Use AI to quickly find the best things to see and do when you’re short on time.

• Be prepared to use Uber or taxis. They can save valuable time and help you fit more into your trip.

Since we started we’ve pushed against almost ALL traditional volunteering.

We do not ❌

* Get involved in construction projects
* Have English classes run solely by foreigners
* Carry out marine or forest research / conservation
* Actively work with children

You may ask why because this is what volunteers want?

Because we know from our boots on the ground research that these activities hinder community development and remove jobs for people.

Instead we teach people how to be successful. We create local communities that help each other. Provide education on language skills, employability, sustainability and more.

We create something that will last a lifetime and it doesn’t matter if foreigners are there volunteering or not.
