After just two training sessions since returning to school on Friday, we travelled to Penrice Academy with Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils for our first rugby fixtures of the year this afternoon.

Three year groups. Plenty of debuts. And the start of what promises to be another huge season of Penryn College Rugby.

A brilliant first outing for all three squads.

CLUBS ARE BACK

Today after school over 100 Year 7 and 8 pupils attended Rugby and Netball training ahead of next week’s fixtures.

Thank you to the Year 9 pupils who helped to coach.

The full enrichment programme, which officially commences on Monday, can be found on the Clubs & Activities app on pupils iPads.

The 2026/27 rugby season is officially underway!

Last weekend, we welcomed Wellington School’s U16 and U18 squads for their annual pre-season tour, which culminated in a training game against some of our own Year 11 pupils yesterday.

There’s plenty to look forward to this season, with a packed programme of rugby ahead.

The PE Department has had some time to reflect on what was a fantastic evening at our Sports Personality Awards, held on the last day of term.

𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀.

When work has you spending days, evenings and weekends together, having the best team makes all the difference.

What a fantastic way to round off another incredible academic year with our Sports Personality Awards Evening.

For the second consecutive year, we were delighted to host the event at Falmouth University. Bringing together students, staff, families, special guests and supporters for an unforgettable evening celebrating the outstanding achievements of our students through school sport.

A huge congratulations to everyone who featured throughout the evening and a special well done to all of our award winners ✨

Thank you to everyone who makes everything we do possible. Our staff, families, supporters and wider school community all play a vital role. Your continued commitment and encouragement allows our students to take part, compete and achieve at their very best.

The PE department has been incredibly proud of the record levels of engagement in school sport this year. We have seen record numbers of students attending extracurricular clubs, representing the school in fixtures and travelling countless miles to compete.

Behind every result are the early morning starts, late returns, weekends away and the dedication shown by our students, staff and families. From PE lessons to after-school training sessions, students continue to embrace every opportunity to develop their skills, challenge themselves and represent the school with pride. Seeing them achieve their goals and grow in confidence makes every mile, every hour and every effort worthwhile.

A huge thank you to our special guest, Dan Hiscocks, who shared an inspiring message with everyone in attendance. He reminded our students that challenges and setbacks are part of everyone's journey, but what matters most is how you choose to respond to them. It was a powerful message that perfectly reflected the values we strive to develop through school sport.

We hope everyone has a brilliant and well-deserved summer break.

Last Friday, our Year 6 Sports Academy headed down to Swanpool to take part in paddleboarding and coasteering as a fantastic way to round off the year.

Throughout the year, the group has experienced a wide range of sports, including rugby, basketball, hockey, cricket and athletics. Along the way, they have developed their sporting knowledge and skills, grown in confidence, and built new friendships that will hopefully continue as they start their journey at Penryn in September.

It has been a pleasure to watch every one of you develop over the past year. Well done everyone, you’ve been brilliant!
