We are delighted to announce that we, Yanwath Primary School, have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success. Our sporting achievements this year include:Representing our school at cross country and having some year six children in the county trials, attending a range of sporting competitions, festivals and taster events and ensuring all of our KS2 children have had the opportunity to attend a sporting event this year, as well as most of our KS1 pupils. We’ve also built an after school club offering which celebrates sports and have included cricket, running, tag rugby and football in our offering. We have held inter-school competitions, are preparing for our whole-school sports day and will be taking part in the CET mile in July. With a total of 120 young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year. A special thanks to:Mr Crouch for organising all of our school sporting events and ensuring we can attend as many as possible. The team at Eden Valley Sports Partnership for running such a wide range of events (the Kin-Ball is always a favourite!). All of our school staff, parents and the children, who have worked hard this year to compete, take part and support one another in our sporting achievements. Thank you everyone!
