🌿 L I T T L E • N A T U R E • E X P L O R E R S 🌿

Our Lilyhowe children headed into Cliburn Moss for a woodland adventure, exploring the paths, collecting natural treasures and discovering what they could find along the way. 🍂🌲

With collection bags in hand, they searched for pine cones, leaves, sticks and other treasures, while learning how to stay safe and why some things in nature are best left untouched.

They spotted colourful markings on the trees and boxes high in the branches, sparking lots of wonderful conversations and imaginative ideas about who might live inside them. 🐿️🧚‍♀️

Walking along logs and woodland paths also helped develop balance, coordination and confidence, while listening, sharing ideas and working together supported their communication and social skills.

A lovely day of curiosity, imagination and learning in nature. 🌿💛

🚧 C O N S T R U C T I O N • F U N 🚧

Our little builders have been busy exploring a construction-themed sand tray, with plenty of opportunities for hands-on play and discovery. 🏗️

Cars, trucks and diggers were driven through the sand, making tracks and following the wooden railway, while scoops, buckets and tools encouraged lots of filling, pouring and moving.

There was plenty to investigate too, from the soft, sandy textures to signs, cones and construction equipment. Along the way, the children were developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration and problem-solving, while building their confidence, communication and imaginative play.

We love seeing how a simple invitation to play can spark so much curiosity and learning. 💛

A very special good luck to all of our wonderful Lilyhowe children starting big school today! 💛

It feels like only yesterday you were taking your first little steps through our doors, and now you’re ready for your next exciting adventure. We have loved watching you grow, learn, explore and discover the world around you.

We are so proud of every one of you and hope your next chapter is filled with happiness, new friendships, wonderful adventures and lots of exciting discoveries. 🌈📚

And to all our Lilyhowe children who have gone before you, we hope you are continuing to thrive and shine. It is so special to see the children who started their journeys with us grow and take their next steps.

A little look back at one of our lovely outdoor adventures! 💦🌱

The children enjoyed getting their feet wet as they explored the water, searching for little treasures and investigating what they could discover. They worked together, shared their finds and showed lots of curiosity as they explored the natural world around them.

We love looking back on these moments of hands-on exploration and discovery, simple experiences that create wonderful memories while helping children build confidence and a connection with nature. 💚

Play is where children can imagine without limits, turn the ordinary into the extraordinary and feel truly seen. It isn't about perfection or plans; it's about presence, connection and time given wholeheartedly.

A mud pie, a potion made from leaves or an imaginary feast can become a whole new world when children are given the freedom and time to explore their ideas.

At Lilyhowe, we encourage our practitioners to embrace the joy, the mess and the magic of play. To get down on the floor, follow children's lead and give them the greatest gift of all, their time and attention.

Because sometimes, the simplest moments become the memories children carry with them forever. ❤️

A big thank you to one of our wonderful parents for bringing in some delicious cooking apples for us to use!

Inspired by the children’s curiosity, we got busy in the kitchen making our very own apple crumble. The children enjoyed chopping, mixing and sprinkling the ingredients, while practising taking turns, developing their fine motor skills and learning new words along the way.

There was lots of concentration, teamwork and creativity as our little bakers worked together. We can’t wait to enjoy the finished crumble!

The children enjoyed celebrating Rachel’s birthday with lots of creative and imaginative play! 🎨🎁

They created their own birthday party, decorating a special cake, practising cutting with a child-safe knife and joining in with “Happy Birthday”. They also made colourful handprint paintings and special gifts to give to Rachel.

It was wonderful to see the children thinking about someone else and taking such pride in making something special for her, while developing their creativity, fine motor skills and social confidence along the way.

🦒S A F A R I 🦁

As part of our Jungle Week adventures, the children got creative making their very own jungle safari cars! They painted them in camouflage colours so they could sneak through the jungle without the animals spotting them. 🐯🌿

We then took our safari cars out into the garden, imagining all the amazing jungle animals we might discover along the way. The children led the play beautifully, excitedly sharing the animals they could see as they drove past. 🦒🐒🐘

Their ideas continued to grow as they used the **resource box in the garden** to create another safari car. It was lovely to see their imaginations, teamwork and storytelling come to life through their play.

Our cosy home corner became a busy little nursery as the children enjoyed caring for their babies through imaginative role play.

They lovingly fed the babies, changed nappies, tucked them into bed and took them for walks in the prams, recreating the everyday experiences they see at home. It was wonderful to watch the children chat to their babies, show kindness and work together as they cared for them.

Role play like this helps children develop communication, confidence and empathy, while encouraging creativity and helping them make sense of the world around them through play.
