Are you looking for inspiration to strengthen and embed a well sequenced curriculum within your setting?

Join us for one of our tour days and gain insight into our carefully designed shared curriculum. Rooted in reflective practice and developed over time through continuous review and refinement, our approach supports providers in delivering a clear, ambitious, and coherent learning journey for all children.

Our curriculum is structured to ensure progression, with a strong focus on what children need to know and be able to do at each stage of their development. It is intentionally designed to be straightforward to implement, enabling practitioners to maintain a clear focus on children’s learning, development, and outcomes.

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to explore how our curriculum is implemented in practice, how it supports high-quality interactions, and how it enables staff to confidently plan and deliver meaningful learning experiences.

This curriculum has been developed in line with the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage and informed by Development Matters. It reflects Ofsted expectations for a well sequenced, knowledge rich curriculum that supports all children to make strong progress from their starting points.

Keep your eyes peeled👀

Earlier this week we enjoyed a lovely walk down into the village to see the beautiful flowers beginning to appear on the green. The children spent time looking closely at the different colours and shapes, chatting about how special the flowers are and why we must look after them by not picking them or standing on them.

They listened so carefully and showed such kindness and respect for nature. 🌱

After admiring the flowers, we had lots of fun playing ring games together on the green before walking back up to nursery for a well-earned, yummy lunch.

A simple morning filled with fresh air, learning and lots of smiles. 💛

Our Preschool children had a wonderful trip to Acorn Bank, where we spent the day surrounded by the magic of nature. Nestled in a peaceful valley, Acorn Bank is full of winding paths, beautiful gardens and hidden corners that are perfect for little explorers.

As we wandered through the grounds, the children began to discover how nature grows and changes, learning about life cycles and the signs of spring all around us. Sian helped us to identify lots of different flowers and plants along the way, turning our walk into a real nature adventure.

During our exploring we discovered:

• A fascinating water mill gently turning
• Magical fairy houses and tiny toadstools hidden among the trees
• Curious wooden pipes to investigate
• Frog spawn in the pond, a wonderful sign of new life
• The chance to carefully explore pond water
• Beautiful daffodils, snowdrops and wild garlic growing along the paths
• Shiny green holly leaves in the woodland

There was so much excitement, curiosity and wonder as the children explored, asked questions and discovered new things together. A truly magical day of learning, nature and adventure.

Well done Preschool explorers! 🍃✨

Whenever the sunshine appears, we love to make the very most of it at Lambkins and take our activities outside. This morning we enjoyed the lovely spring sunshine while exploring our bright yellow playdough outdoors.

The children used fantastic physical skills as they rolled, patted and squeezed the playdough, strengthening their little hands while being creative.

As we played, we also talked about springtime and discovered some of the beautiful flowers that begin to bloom at this time of year. There was lots of curiosity, conversation and imagination as the children explored together in the sunshine.

A lovely sunny morning of learning, creativity and outdoor play.

Well done everyone! 🌻

“When I grow up, I want to be…”

Visits like this help spark big dreams for the future. We were very excited to welcome Electricity North West, giving the children a glimpse into an important job within our community.

The children loved hearing about the work they do and were fascinated by the equipment and vehicles. Some even had the chance to try on the uniforms, which created lots of excitement and curiosity. Experiences like this help children begin to imagine who they might become one day.

During the visit we also talked a little about how to stay safe around electricity, helping the children understand the important role Electricity North West plays in keeping our communities running safely.

A big thank you to Electricity North West for taking the time to visit us and inspire our future community helpers! ⚡

📚🐻 We’re Going on a Bear Hunt… 🐻📚

As part of our Book Week celebrations, the children set off on a very special adventure inspired by the much-loved story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.

Wrapped up warm, we headed outside to bring the story to life. Together we squelched through mud, tiptoed through the grass, climbed over obstacles and followed the trail on our very own magical bear hunt.

The children loved discovering each part of the journey, from snowy patches to our “bear cave” tunnel, all while listening to the familiar rhythm of the story.

Bringing books into real experiences helps children develop language, imagination and confidence. Acting out stories supports early literacy, encourages movement and helps children truly understand the meaning behind the words they hear.

It was wonderful to see the excitement as the children joined in with the repeated phrases from the story and explored the environment with such curiosity.

At nursery we love turning stories into adventures - because the best learning often happens when imagination and exploration come together.

🐾 We’re not scared… are you?

📚 W O R L D B O O K D A Y AT L A M B K I N S📚

We’ve been celebrating World Book Day all week at Lambkins, with lots of activities inspired by some well-loved children’s stories.

The children explored our nursery library, discovering the different books on the shelves and sharing their favourites with friends. It has been lovely to see their excitement as they turn the pages, recognise familiar characters and become absorbed in the stories.

Throughout the week we have enjoyed activities linked to some classic favourites including The Hungry Caterpillar, Guess How Much I Love You, and The Gruffalo. From creative crafts and storytelling to imaginative play, the children have had so much fun bringing these stories to life.

They also enjoyed making their own mini books using art and craft materials, drawing pictures and sharing their own ideas for stories. Activities like this support early literacy, creativity and confidence as children begin to understand that stories can come from their own imagination too.

At Lambkins we love nurturing a natural love of reading and encouraging families to enjoy books together at home, as well as regular visits to the local library.

📖 What story does your child love hearing again and again?

Watch This Space… Exciting Opportunities Ahead!

Nature Gate Nurseries was formed to create a platform that links our two settings, enabling us to deliver a streamlined curriculum and consistent standards across both provisions. This shared approach strengthens our practice, supports our teams, and ensures every child benefits from the same high-quality experiences rooted in outdoor learning.

It has also created a strong foundation for us to share our best practice more widely, something many other settings and practitioners have asked us to do.

We’re therefore delighted to announce upcoming opportunities including:

✨ Visitor tours for professionals wanting to see our approach in action
✨ Training sessions exploring what we do, why we do it, and how we make it work
✨ Stay & Play sessions at both Lambkins and Lilyhowe

We believe in collaboration, reflection, and growing together as a sector. Opening our gates to share our journey feels like a natural next step.

Keep an eye on our page for further details and booking information…

🍂✨ N O V E M B E R • R O U N D - U P ✨🍂

From frost to floods, there’s been lots going on at Lambkins this month!

November gave us every kind of weather, and the children embraced it all with endless enthusiasm. Rainy days meant muddy adventures, with little ones leaping into puddles, splashing through the water and proudly testing out their waterproofs.

Frosty mornings brought sparkling grass and chilly air, and the children wrapped up warm to explore the magical textures and colours that winter is beginning to bring.

Inside, things were just as exciting. Cosy story tents, winter-themed sensory trays, snowman-building activities and imaginative small-world setups kept everyone busy and engaged.
From exploring animals and storybooks to becoming mini police officers in role-play, creativity flowed through every corner of the setting.

We even enjoyed a few beautifully bright, sunny days, perfect for balancing outdoors, climbing, investigating nature and taking in the stunning countryside views around us.

Tractors, teamwork and lots of shared play filled our time outside, with children showing growing confidence, independence and friendship as they explored together.

November has reminded us that whatever the weather brings, it always offers new opportunities for learning, joy and adventure.

Here’s to even more magic as we head into December! ❄️✨
