Good luck to our Yorkshire Marathon heroes!
This Sunday, some of our brave staff and a couple of wonderful parents will be taking on the fantastic challenge of the Yorkshire Marathon!

We are incredibly proud of them all and wish them the very best of luck as they take on this amazing challenge. Your determination, commitment and hard work are truly inspiring!

A special mention goes to one of our parents, Mrs D, who is raising money that will be shared directly between our school and another small local primary school. What a wonderful way to make a difference and support our school community! https://www.justgiving.com/page/mrs-d-marathon?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL&utm_campaign=lc_frp_share_transaction_transactional_--_donation_received_--_nth_donation

Our school motto is DREAM, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE ✨, and our marathon runners are certainly showing us what it means to dream big, believe in yourself and achieve great things!

We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way. Run strong, enjoy every moment and know that we are all behind you!

Good luck to you all, you’ve got this!

AI companions are becoming increasingly popular with young people, offering conversations with virtual characters designed to feel like genuine friends.

Platforms such as Character.AI, Replika and Snapchat My AI can provide entertainment and creativity, but their human-like interactions can also create important risks.

Our latest guide explores:
• Emotional dependency
• Harmful or unreliable mental health advice
• Oversharing personal information
• Inappropriate or explicit content
• Distorted expectations around real-world relationships
• Subscription and in-app spending pressures

The guide also offers practical advice on discussing AI friendships, checking privacy settings and age limits, encouraging offline relationships and reminding young people where to seek genuine support.

Talking to a pupil about their wellbeing can feel daunting, particularly when you are unsure what to say or worried about hearing something concerning.

Our latest guide reminds educators that they do not need to be specialists to provide meaningful support.

The guide explores:
• Building warm, trusting relationships
• Choosing a safe and appropriate place to talk
• Using side-by-side conversations to reduce pressure
• Staying calm when a pupil shares a concern
• Being clear and honest about confidentiality
• Knowing when to involve safeguarding colleagues or seek support yourself

It also includes practical conversation starters to help staff open discussions gently and give pupils space to talk when they are ready.

Today we officially opened our new play area, celebrating with ice creams all round! 🍦After years of fundraising, from fireworks and the C2C to inflatable fell walks and everything in between, 2026 was finally the year we raised enough to make the playground a reality.
A wonderful legacy of a community coming together to create a space for our children to enjoy for many years to come. A huge thank you to FoLS, who have played such a massive part in making this happen. 🩵 Friends of Lazonby School Crookscreams&cheesecakes
