Year 6 in York - Day 3 🍫✨
Our final day has been just as exciting! We have enjoyed a deliciously fun visit to York's Chocolate Story, followed by a last wander around the shops - and even met nikita__kuzmin from Strictly!

A huge thank you to YHA York and to the beautiful city of York for such a warm welcome and giving us an unforgettable few days filled with history, fun and wonderful memories. 🏰❤️

The children have been absolutely brilliant throughout and have represented the school superbly.
We’re on our way back now after an amazing trip.

Day 2 in York with Year 6!
What a busy and brilliant day! Stepping back in time at DIG - An Archaeological Adventure and Jorvik Viking Centre this morning, then we explored the Shambles (and managed a bit of shopping), visited York Minster and enjoyed a walk along the historic city walls. Of course, no day would be complete without an ice cream in the sunshine! After tea, we finished the day with some well-earned fun in the park. Lots of happy faces and memories made!

Our school ethos leaders did an excellent job of leading a collective worship to open this year’s ‘Diocese Leaders Conference’ at North Lakes Hotel. The year 4/5 children led our singing and actions to the sea shanty song “Be Strong and Courageous”…A fantastic song taught to us at Stainton by Rev. Tim and Tracy before they retired from Stainton Methodist Church. 🌊 💪🏻 ✝️

Day 1 in York with Year 6!
So much has been packed into the day - exploring historic Clifford's Tower, stepping back in time at the York Castle Museum, enjoying the sights from the sightseeing bus and finishing off with a spooky ghost walk (thank you The Original Ghostwalk of York!)
Lots of smiles, laughter and brilliant memories already…we can’t wait for tomorrow!

🛠️ ✨ Year 6 Design and Technology Project ✨🛠️
As a welcome break during SATs week, Year 6 spent the afternoons designing and making their own cam automata toys.
From learning about cams, careful planning to hands-on building, they showed fantastic design and creativity skills, determination and problem solving throughout the project - finishing with some truly brilliant moving toys before half term.

A huge well done to Year 6 - we’re so proud of you!

Well done to this week’s ⭐️Stars of the Week⭐️, 🧩Jigsaw Stars🧩, 📚Summer Reading Challenge readers📚and the children who took part in the ❤️Poetry by Heart ❤️ competition!

This term’s value in school is Responsibility and our stars of the week have all shown responsibility for their own learning: taking care in what they do in lessons, trying their best and having aspirations to be their best at all times - well done!

Please vote for our wonderful school to help us to be in with the chance to win some new books for all the children to enjoy. 🤞 Wouldn’t this be a wonderful way to celebrate the National Year of Reading!

Everyone who votes will also be entered into a prize draw. Thank you for your support ☺️

📚 Could your child’s school win £1,000/€1,000 for new books?

With our friends at Read for Good, we’re on a mission to – and you can help! 💙

Nominate a school at the link below to put them in with a chance of winning £1,000/€1,000 in National Book Tokens to refresh their library 📖✨

Even better? If your nomination is chosen, YOU could win a £100/€120 National Book Token to spend in your favourite bookshop!

And that's not all. To celebrate the UK's National Year of Reading, we'll pick a flash winner every week until 24th June to receive £100/€100 for their nominated school, and £25/€30 for themselves. That's even more books in the libraries of schools across the UK and Ireland. 🎉

Why it matters:
💡 Reading for pleasure boosts wellbeing, confidence and academic success
📉 But only 1 in 3 children say they enjoy reading in their free time
📚 Many school libraries need new and inspiring books to engage today’s readers

Let’s give every child access to books they’ll love. ❤️

👉 Nominate your school today and spread the word – the more nominations, the better their chances!

Yesterday the children had a great opportunity to watch a live theatre production of Pinocchio. There was lots of laughs and interactions. The children (and staff) thoroughly enjoyed it! This was then followed by a question and answer session for our year 6's.
What was your child's favourite part?
