Next Season's Lodge - We'll name her Shearwater 🤍
There's always something so humbling about watching these delicate sea birds move. Back in my days working on the commercial fishing boats late at night. The deck lights would cast a pool of light on the water around us revealing the magic of the sea - The ghosts and the fairies we'd call it.
The 'ghosts' were the manx shearwaters, sweeping silently past the boat with their pale bellies flashing out of the corner of your eye. The 'fairies' where the tiny storm petrels fluttering and dancing on the surface as they gathered scraps from the sea. Effortlessly navigating the environment. A quiet reminder of how much life thrives out there in conditions that are anything but comfortable for us.
These seabirds are an incredible part of Pembrokeshires seasons. It felt like the perfect name for a perfect place for slowing down, breathing out and enjoying the coastline the Shearwaters return home to year after year.
