A huge well done to Ethan, who represented Peebles High School at the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) Academy over the summer! 🎻🎶
Ethan had the opportunity to work with other young musicians, develop his orchestral playing and experience music-making at a national level. He is continuing to make fantastic progress on both violin and double bass, and we’re incredibly proud to see him taking advantage of opportunities beyond the school.
Ethan’s participation is a brilliant example of the wider opportunities that can grow from being involved in the Peebles High School Music Department.
Music is such an important part of school life. It gives young people opportunities to develop confidence, creativity, teamwork, resilience, discipline and communication skills, while also providing a place to belong, perform and achieve. From classroom music and instrumental lessons to ensembles, concerts and national opportunities such as NYOS, the department helps pupils develop skills and experiences that can stay with them long after they leave school.
We hope Ethan’s experience will inspire even more Peebles High School musicians to take part in NYOS and other opportunities in the years ahead.
Well done, Ethan — a fantastic achievement! 👏🎼
