With a heavy heart we have had to make the difficult decision to close the pre-school as of the 7th April 2022. The Preschool has been struggling financially for some time and due to Covid, low numbers and limited funding we are unable to continue.

Many thanks for the continued support we have had from parent/carers past and present and we want to wish all the children the very best in the future.

The children have very much enjoyed sharing the story of 'Jack and the beanstalk' and have embraced all the activities. For example helping to create the display on the noticeboard to form a storyboard, to planting their magic beans. The pics were sent in by parents, as the children wanted us to see their progress. They also enjoyed becoming the giant, drawing around them and then adding detail. Again one of the pictures was sent in by a parent to show how her daughter and her siblings had also enjoyed colouring in the pic! Lots of fun for everyone. ' Fee Fi Fo Fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman' 😀

The children have enjoyed exploring our large range of books this morning independently and alongside our practitioners.

Sharing books with adults is very important. Not only are the children learning vital skills for later reading and writing, but sharing books also helps with talking, listening, and communication skills, as well as encouraging imagination, curiosity, and arousing emotions.📚👀😍

Happy Pancake Day! Lots of fun at Acorn Pre-School this morning, eating them and then using the spares to practice "flipping' them, they were flying everywhere! 😀🤣

The Pre-School re-opens tomorrow at 9.00am! It will be lovely to see the childrens excited faces as they arrive ready for another fun and educational term! 😁

We have had a fun week talking about Chinese New Year, including songs and crafts. The children enjoyed making their dragons, using lots of glitter, choosing which colours to use and where on their face and tail, aswell as colouring their bodies, making them all individual.

We then used them to explore movement to music, listening to the drums and cymbals.

The Dragon is believed to be linked to good luck, long life and wisdom.

We have had a lovely start to the week at Acorn this morning. We have been talking about Chinese New Year, sharing a story about the Chinese Zodiac.

Each year of the Calendar represents one of the 12 zodiac animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. 2022 marks the Year of the Tiger!

The Children also enjoyed trying to use chopsticks to eat their noodles at snacktime. 😁

Following the children's interests we carried out science experiments this week, making our own snow, introducing different concepts and the changing matter from solid to liquid, as once we had made snowballs we used white vinegar to melt them. 😀

The children also enjoyed snow exploration with our Artic Animals! 🐧🐻‍❄️

We are exploring ice this morning with the children in the discovery tray.

Exploring Ice - is a hands-on science for the children, an opportunity to introduce them to the concepts of observation, prediction, and testing.

They are also enjoying the sensory play element and the other opportunities such as imaginative play, language exploration, social skills and collaboration / working as part of a team, sharing their thoughts and ideas. 😁
