🐑 Join the Saughland Team for Lambing 2026! 🐑

We’re looking for one person to help this lambing season at Saughland Farm, near Pathhead, Midlothian 👇

Depending on experience, the role could involve outdoor lambing or indoor shed work:

🌿 Outdoor Lamber
• Around 850 Romney X ewes lambed outdoors in small fields
• Checking ewes and lambs, bringing in problems, ringing & mothering-up
• Outdoor lambing experience required

🏠 Indoor Shed Assistant
• Feeding, bedding, watering & caring for pet lambs
• Sorting any problems brought in from outside
• Assisting with pedigree Suffolk lambing
• Must be able to work on your own initiative – support available

🐑 Around 1,700 ewes in total lambing this season
📅 Starting 13th April for around 3-4 weeks
NO ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE

Lots 960 & 961 are in for their prep — not fully finished yet, but already looking the part.

💥Here are the first 2 from our group heading into the ring on Saturday afternoon💥

🐑 Lot 960 – superior scan weight EBV, breeding fast-growing lambs to slaughter
🐑 Lot 961 – highest KO% on SRUC CT scanning in the group, giving more carcase weight where it matters

✅ Treated like our commercial ewe’s – only a short feeding period pre-sale, not pushed and built for longevity
✅ Proven in our own flock – we only sell what’s good enough for ourselves
✅ Backed by EBVs and CT data

👉 Lambing experience is essential (calving desirable)
👉 No accommodation available – must be able to commute
👉 Join a dynamic team on a progressive upland livestock farm

Our location within a working farm means that we have livestock neighbours as well as humans. Often the residents of our offices see some of our 2000 sheep or even our Hereford bull passing by!
