🐑 Join the Saughland Team for Lambing 2027! 🐑

We’re looking for 1–2 people to join us for lambing at Saughland Farm, near Pathhead, Midlothian.

🏠 Pet Lamb Rearing & Shed Lambing

The role will mainly involve:

• Feeding, bedding, watering and caring for pet lambs
• Rearing pet lambs using our milk machine and great setup
• Assisting with shed lambing and caring for ewes and lambs
• Sorting and dealing with any problems that arise
• General lambing and shed work as required

🐑 Around 1,700 ewes lambing this season.

We’re looking for reliable, hardworking people who can work on their own initiative. Previous sheep or lambing experience would be an advantage.

We have a well-equipped setup and milk machine for rearing the pet lambs, with support available throughout the season.

📅 Starting 19th April 2027 for approximately 3–4 weeks

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stockperson to join our team on a progressive and well-
invested livestock farm, located just 15 miles south of Edinburgh.
We run approximately:
• 1,500 breeding ewes plus replacements
• 100 spring-calving suckler cows
• A growing pedigree Suffolk flock
We are looking for someone who is passionate about livestock farming and capable of taking responsibility within a modern farming business.
The role will involve:
✔ Sheep and cattle husbandry
✔ Animal health and welfare
✔ Lambing and calving
✔ Grazing and grassland management
✔ Tractor and machinery operation
✔ Feeding, bedding and livestock handling
✔ Livestock performance recording and EID technology
✔ Fencing and general estate maintenance
✔ Working alongside vets, nutritionists and advisors

Depending on experience, the role could involve outdoor lambing or indoor shed work:

🌿 Outdoor Lamber
• Around 850 Romney X ewes lambed outdoors in small fields
• Checking ewes and lambs, bringing in problems, ringing & mothering-up
• Outdoor lambing experience required

🏠 Indoor Shed Assistant
• Feeding, bedding, watering & caring for pet lambs
• Sorting any problems brought in from outside
• Assisting with pedigree Suffolk lambing
• Must be able to work on your own initiative – support available

🐑 Around 1,700 ewes in total lambing this season
📅 Starting 13th April for around 3-4 weeks
