We love exploring books at Nurture Sense! 📚

This little video shows how babies' experiences with books can develop as they grow, from simple black-and-white images and bold, contrasting colours to soft books with flaps, sturdy board books with lift-the-flaps, and eventually familiar characters, predictable rhymes and favourite stories.

Sharing books with your baby is such a simple but magical way to support their early learning.

Reading together introduces babies to new words, rhymes and the rhythm of language in a playful, enjoyable way. It also creates lovely opportunities for connection, shared attention and developing an understanding of the world around them.

And don't underestimate the value of repetition! Reading those familiar stories over and over again helps babies begin to anticipate what comes next and develop an early love of books.

Why not make a visit to your local library part of your routine?

📖 Did you know that babies can have their very own library cards? Such a lovely little milestone!
📖 There's no need to worry about overdue fines on children's books borrowed using a child's library card in either Powys or Shropshire.
📖 Libraries are wonderful places to spend time with your baby. Warm and cosy in winter, and with air conditioning in some libraries to keep you cool in summer!
📖 Why not arrange to meet another parent at the library? Enjoy a chat while your babies explore books together.

And best of all, joining the library and borrowing books is completely free!
At Nurture Sense, books, stories, songs and rhymes are woven into our sessions, helping babies develop early communication and literacy skills through playful, shared experiences.

🌿 How do I book a place at Nurture Sense?
It's lovely to see bookings coming in for our November and December classes! With some new families getting in touch, I thought it would be helpful to explain how the booking process works.

1. Get in touch!

2. Receive your booking information
You'll receive an email with details of our upcoming classes, including dates, times, prices and a link to our booking form.

3. Complete your booking form
Once I've received your completed form, I'll email you with payment details so you can secure your place.

🌿 A little more about booking...

Nurture Sense classes are booked in blocks of 6 or 7 weekly sessions, depending on the term.
Booking as a block allows babies and their adults to become familiar with our gentle routines, build connections and enjoy exploring a different theme each week.

🚀 Getting excited for this week's Nurture Sense class! ✨

I've been busy organising resources and tweaking plans ready for our final session of this block, where we'll be exploring light, texture and early numeracy through the magical theme of outer space! 🌙⭐

It's such a lovely theme to end our block of classes on, almost like a gentle goodnight before we say goodbye for now.

I'm really looking forward to welcoming our babies and their grown-ups for one last morning of songs, sensory exploration and connection.

I've shared before how lucky I feel to have so much variety in my working week, splitting my time between working at Milestones Childminding, running my own little business, Nurture Sense, and spending time with family and friends.

We recently had an inspection at Milestones Childminding and I'm so proud of the lovely feedback we received that I wanted to share it here too!

It's a real privilege to work with someone who shares my passion for providing a nurturing, caring and stimulating environment for the little ones in our care.
I'm very lucky to do work that I genuinely love, in all my roles.

I’ve been sitting on this amazing news, and I’m absolutely delighted that I can finally share it with you… 🥰❤️

Our inspection took place on 30th September, and I’m incredibly proud to say that it went amazingly well!
The inspector was professional, kind and genuinely lovely, and the children were simply amazing. I’m so pleased that the report reflects the true picture of our ethos, our values and everything we work so hard to achieve at Milestones.
And then came the news…

✨ MILESTONES WAS AWARDED EXCELLENT IN ALL AREAS — WITH NO RECOMMENDATIONS! ✨

I was totally lost for words when the inspector gave her feedback and said:
“You excel in everything, going above and beyond in everything you do” and “You are leading the way.”
And then to hear that “your name is being put forward for leading practice” I honestly couldn’t believe it. 🥹

I feel incredibly proud of my business, of everything I have built, and especially of Jess, whose support, hard work and dedication alongside me has been absolutely invaluable.
I’m so proud of our amazing children and their families, too. To be recognised in this way has made all the hard work, stress, determination and dedication completely worth it.

A huge thank you to Jess, to the beautiful children who brighten every single day, to our wonderful families who put their trust in me, and most of all to my amazing family for their continued love and support and for helping make all of this possible.

Before ➡️ After!

One of my favourite things about Nurture Sense is seeing a carefully prepared activity completely transformed once our babies get exploring!

Sensory play is all about touching, moving, discovering and following their curiosity — so a bit of chaos is definitely welcome.

New Nurture Sense classes start this November at Pant Memorial Hall.

Our next 7-week block of Nurture Sense parent & baby classes begins on Friday 6th November at Pant Memorial Hall.

🌿 Fridays, 9.30–10.30am
🌿 6th November – 18th December 2026
🌿 7-week block – £49
🌿 Suitable for babies 1 month–13 months

Nurture Sense offers a calm, welcoming space for you and your baby to connect, explore and enjoy time together.

Each week includes gentle, thoughtfully planned sensory experiences, songs and activities, with ideas grounded in early development and plenty of opportunity to explore resources and connect with other local families.

This week at Nurture Sense we explored music, movement and our bodies through nursery rhymes, guided activities, action songs and lots of sensory play.

Singing and dancing together is such a lovely way to bond with your baby, while supporting early communication, body awareness and connection.

It was also wonderful to see families chatting, sharing the experience and connecting with other local parents and babies.
