Is your child or young person needing support with their studies, help to develop key communication skills or having behavioural issues that are holding them back from achieving their full potential?
I am a qualified teacher with 20 years’ experience in the SEN sector. I have loved working with a great variety of pupils, from pupils with autism and challenging behaviour to those with very complex learning needs and physical challenges. With every pupil it was a joy to support them through their learning journey – I know that they taught me as much as I taught them, and we had many laughs along the way.
I am registered with the GTCS and have full PVG for working with vulnerable adults and children.
I now work with children and young people in their own homes, within 15 miles of Paisley.
In consultation with their families, I assess the child/young person’s individual needs and develop personalised programmes of study to support them to progress towards their learning goals – for school, for independence, for life.
I create individualised, motivating activities and experiences to encourage positive engagement with learning and confidence at school. Usually these sessions are 1:1 although I can also accommodate small groups. I am also available for sessions using video chat alongside sessions in the home.
I also work with families, developing strategies to encourage independence and overcome behavioural challenges. This leads to greater access to outdoor activities and confidence out in the community.
Additionally, I create sensory activities for children/young people with complex and sensory learning needs. These are designed to encourage engagement and develop communication skills. I specialise in Sensory stories which use every sense to explore subject areas such as Christmas, Spring, St Andrew, Halloween and many more.
These sensory stories cover all CfE subject areas and can be tailored to individual needs.
I can come to your home, school or nursery to present these sensory activities or they can be purchased and sent via email with full instructions and list of required resources.
I am totally flexible with timings, and each session can be arranged individually for when it suits you best. You may wish to book a block of sessions or simply organise one at a time.
First one hour consultation is free of charge. I would normally come to your home so we can chat about how I can help.
Fees:
Per hour in the child/young person’s home is £45.
Each additional pupil is £22.50 per hour, with a maximum of 3 pupils.
Video chat sessions are £35 per hour (alongside sessions in the home).
I also provide a sitting service to look after child/young person (plus siblings) and enable parents to go out for an evening, knowing that their child/young person is in safe hands.
If I am tutoring for the first hour, as is usual, then this would cost £45 for the first hour and £15 per hour thereafter.
If I am not tutoring, then this would cost £30 for the first hour and £15 per hour thereafter.
