If you'd like to see Becky trying to sing Haydn's Creation through bittersweet tears next Sunday, she's performing with the Paisley Philharmonic Choir for MD Derrick's final concert.

It'll be the last chance you'll get to see Derrick work his maestro magic with the choir and an orchestra before he leaves for new, exciting opportunities and conductor superstardom.

For me, performing solo is, and always has been, a daunting but exciting experience.

The not so perfect singing combination of sweaty palms and dry mouth still accompanies my lonely walk to centre stage - the deep breaths, the silent plea to my neocortex for the right lyrics, and the knowledge that once I get going I'll probably (definitely?) enjoy myself.

I don't get much chance to sing solo these days (despite weekly choral engagements and occasional pleas for less vocal accompaniment from exasperated students).

So, it's lovely to have the opportunity to work on a piece to perform on stage, and to remind myself that - despite the persistent nerves - I can do scary things. A certificate and some shiny silverware is just a nice bonus! 😅

From Burns' Night repertoire to university audition prep(ertoire?) we're well into the swing of the new term, and already working on some fantastic pieces! 🎵🎸🎹🎤🎵

We can't wait to see what sort of musical adventures 2026 brings 😊

Had a gorgeous day yesterday singing Verdi's Requiem along with 800+ choir members, 4 amazing soloists, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and RSNO Chorus - and my fellow wonderful warblers from the Paisley Philharmonic Choir 🥰🥰

Righty folks, I can't promise I'll not have some sort of freak accident/catch another badly timed lurgy the day before this one... But all being well I'll be singing a bunch of gorgeous pieces with the gorgeous folks of Paisley Philharmonic Choir in a couple of weeks time. 🥰❤️

Spending a cosy afternoon brushing up on my latin before next week's concert. 🥰😁

The last time i regularly attended choir was around 2007, and it's been a bit of a baptism of fire sight reading Mozart again 🤣

If you're looking to spend a couple of hours bathed in the sound of massed choirs, soloists and an orchestra this Sunday, I'd love to see you there (whilst I remember where to breathe, try not to come in on the high G too early, and have an all round wonderful time) ❤️

Well it's been a while...

We've been continuing online lessons and making the best of an odd 12 months - it finally feels like better things are on the horizon and we can't wait to see your real life faces as soon as it's safe to do so. 🥰

This week has seen the first bit of recording (or even singing for pleasure) that I've done in a very long time - here's a nostalgia hit from Walt Disney's Bedknobs And Broomsticks whilst I try to reclaim my vocal cords. 😅

Fraser is a complete gem of a human - smart, kind, and outrageously funny with an amazing ear for music!

He and his mum Rosheen have been through a lot in the last few years and now Fraser needs essential support to help him flourish at school.
