Hi Folks,
Recently I discovered that First Tutors, the platform I have used for many years, which has been trading as a company for 20 years, just closed down, in May 2026.
If you have searched there and found them missing or seen the Announcement about the Close of Business, please be aware that this affects nothing at all, in my own offer of Tutoring work, to help fulfil the needs of your children, in achieving the highest academic or knowledge- based skills and targets that they can. I offer English Language, EFL, English Literature, French Language and Literature, as well as Basic Spoken Cantonese Chinese language to adults. Online on Zoom or Google Teams, or face to face, 1 to 1, in the students' own homes, within a 15 mile radius of my home.
Book me, ahead of time, for weekly, fortnightly or monthly visits! Take Care!

Today we woke up after a night interrupted by stormy guys battering the window over and over. We have a new bedroom window, with state-of-the-art argon gas filing the gap between the panes. So that gas is unreactive, it does not heat up, there's no cold getting in! But that's not the point. I sleep badly, always, when the storms blow, they come flying up the Clyde Estuary and nothing is in their way. We take a direct hit. Now, everyone talks about climate change, but Mother Nature is fickle in any case. She sends March Wildwinds with full force, except, I got a feeling, at 2am, that the fury was preternatural. Almost as if She was telling us, stop waging Wars...... because Earth is Our Home. And the Humans and all Natural Life Lives there. Or are these just Wish Fulfilment? I don't think so. I think Mother Nature reacts... and Her Anger is Real.

Hello Folks,
Students and parents looking for a reliable, value-for-money, conscientious English, EFL or French Tutor?

I am available now. Booking ahead allows us to plan ahead- so, instead of waiting until November and December 2025 to take on a tutor to help with exams, why not start with my fortnightly visits to the home, which will establish good practice in study, well before the exam phases of the work ahead?

This Year, 2025, I have had great news!
I won an Award, Songwriting Lyrics 2nd Place with Hammond House Publishing in Grimsby University, England, an international writing award..... What's more, the sea shanty I wrote, John Campbell's, is a true story about an American veteran of the USA- Vietnam Conflict.
It's something I'm very proud of, as I've never won an award before.... the lyrics used as much language from Shakespeare's Hamlet Soliloquy, starting ' To be or not to be, that is the question'. I used the vocabulary from this speech pretty successfully .
If you are a student, who wants to achieve in English, this sea shanty is a good example of how to 'manipulate' language you may feel you are unfamiliar with, and 're- purpose' it, to fulfill the themes of another story. John Campbell's is about a decision the man made as a sailor, to cross the Pacific Ocean solo, from San Francisco, to The Central Phillipines ( Negros del Sur). Same same: Hamlet had to make a very very difficult, life- changing decision.... I hope all students take inspiration from this writing. It was great fun to do!

Hi Folks, parents looking for tutors?
I'm getting queries from parents now, probably as a result if Prelim exam results. I am available and taking on more students. One meeting before Christmas will help to establish a diary ahead into 2025. Bookings ahead are important, as I start getting busy in January.
