✨ Our students at Kings Ash Academy shone on stage for a showcase of performing arts and design.

We were incredibly proud to join five other local schools for a special celebration of creativity at The Palace Theatre in Paignton.

Our students took to the stage on 17th March to share their talents, representing our schools with confidence and true community spirit.

This was the first time all six Torbay schools within the Thinking Schools Academy Trust came together to perform.

Events like this help our students grow not just as performers, but as learners. By expressing themselves, collaborating with others, and stepping outside their comfort zone, they build vital skills which support them in every part of their education.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making this such a special evening for our young people. We couldn’t be prouder.

We’ve had so much fun exploring and celebrating our values here at Kings Ash Academy with our four mascots. 💛

Together we’ve learnt:

How we respect one another with Babu the Deer. 🦌

How we utilise our creativity with Charlotte the Squirrel. 🐿

How we collaborate and work with each with Casey the Rabbit. 🐇

How to be independent learners with Solo the Hedgehog. 🦔

Our value mascots help us to create a vibrant and inclusive learning environment where every child can grow through knowing, aspiring and achieving.

We strive for our learners to embody these values in everything they do, not just in the classroom, but for their community and stepping out into the wider world too. 🌍

It’s week four which must mean it’s time for our final value and our last mascot. 💛

Finally, it’s Solo the Hedgehog, who teaches us how to be Independent! 🦔

At Kings Ash, we’re proud to support the next generation of learners who take responsibility for themselves by making the right choices.

So, what does an independent learner look like? They:

Believe in themselves and have confidence in their ability.

Are willing to make mistakes because failure or getting something wrong helps us learn.

Focused on becoming better and knows what they need to do to progress.

Keeps organised, making sure they know where everything they need is kept.

We love showing our pupils how to become independent learners by helping them use their own initiative. 💡

We can’t believe it’s already week three of celebrating who we’re proud to be at Kings Ash Academy. 💛

This week, it’s time to look at Collaboration which must mean it’s Casey the Rabbit’s turn to be our featured mascot! 🐇

At our school, we love working together, sharing ideas and supporting one another, especially if we’re struggling to understand something.

So, what is a collaborative learner? It’s one who:

Joins in and loves sharing their thoughts and views.

Tries different ideas, even if they may not go how we want them to.

Works well in a group, by listening to and helping others.

Suggests a different way of doing something if it could help their team.

Collaboration is all about how different people work together to achieve something, however big or small. 👥

🎉 New Reward Initiative for Local Children! 🎉
Foxhole Community Centre is excited to launch a brand‑new reward scheme in partnership with our local schools!

📚✨ How it works:
Any child who receives a school certificate during the week can bring it along to the Foxhole Community Centre every Friday, between 15:30–18:00 (during youth club hours).

We’re into week two of celebrating our four values which must mean it’s time for a new mascot! 💛

Charlotte the Squirrel loves to be creative by exploring new ways to solve problems. 🐿️

So, what does a creative learner do? They:

Think imaginatively by being bold in our thoughts and ambitions.

Explores new possibilities to complete their work.

Are not afraid to think outside the box.

Love expressing their ideas in different ways.

We love creating at Kings Ash Academy and as resilient learners, we take risks to help us grow. 📈

Over the next four weeks, we’re celebrating our values here at Kings Ash Academy with our four learning mascots! 💛

Our values shape our ethos, making us feel proud to celebrate who we are and what we do.

To kick us off, it’s Babu the Deer with Respect 🦌

Babu teaches us the importance of treating everyone with kindness, fairness and dignity.

So, what is a respectful learner? It’s one who:

Is kind and polite, always saying please and thank you.

Listens to others and understands why people deserve to be heard.

Makes the right choices and treats others how we’d want to be treated.

Is tolerant of others and recognises how diversity is our greatest strength.

Pupils at Kings Ash learn how to respect one another, the value of kindness, and how everyone is equal 🤝
