My best friend Andy is in his final days after an 11 year fight with cancer. An amazing person who always put others first. We both cycled from Land's End to John O Grotes for Macmillan Cancer charity to help others with cancer in 2022. Now I ask anyone directly to help his family if they can. Thanks Neil.

Well another challenge completed, 31hrs, 600km from Falmouth to London with over 7000 meters elevation ๐Ÿฅต

A fantastic route using the old horse carriage roads. A brilliant way to soak up the beauty of the South West as you head for London.

If you are interested in the Audax challenges check them out, there's something for everyone

Harry Findlay has been one of the highlights of my day when we train. A very interesting life story, I thoroughly recommend his book! He's gifted me a signed copy to say thanks for him reaching his 25kg weight loss so far. Well done Harry and thanks for the book. You can grab a copy on Amazon - Good luck at this weekend ๐Ÿ€

Great result for Elliot today at the BJJ Open Championships. A well deserved 3rd place. Its been great to have a BJJ focus for a client and the strength and conditioning aspects that come with it. Good work, looking forward to next year's training efforts ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Next years challenge.....main aim 600km in 24hrs..... Ride the Trafalgar Way is a cycling event starting from Falmouth, Fish Strand Quay, finishing in London at the Admiralty.

I will hopefully pass through the cities, towns and villages of Truro, Fraddon, Bodmin, Minion Launceston and Okehampton before passing Dartmoor and descending into the cathedral city of Exeter, Honiton, Axminster - passing along a road renamed The Trafalgar Way in 2005, then onwards to Bridport cycling along the Jurassic Coast, Dorchester and Blandford Forum before passing through the cathedral city of Salisbury, Andover, Overton, Basingstoke, Hartley Wintney, Camberley and Sunningdale before heading into central London via Parliament Square finishing at Admiralty House, Whitehall ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

The Ride the Traflgar Way route broadly follows that taken in November 1805, after the Battle of Trafalgar took place on 21st October.

News of the British Navy victory, as well as the death of Admiral Lord Nelson needed to be sent back to the Admiralty, London.

Lieutenant John Richards Lapenotiere was handed despatches and ordered to sail and deliver them to the Admiralty as soon as possible.

When his ship landed just off the coast of Falmouth on 4th November, so would begin his epic 38 hour journey post chaise (via a horse drawn coach) to London, making 21 stops along the way to change horses.

The route taken is now known as the Trafalgar Way. In 2005 (as part of the bicentenary celebrations) Axminster renamed a section of road in the town to The Trafalgar Way.

My background in the Marines hasn't prepared me at all for this but it's a nice nod to it.

Since January 2022 I've been training hard to cycle from Land's End to John O'Grotes. It's been a challenge to say the least and a complete change in focus. It's got easier and I even enjoy it (a little bit). There's a link on my profile bio so anything you can spare will go directly to I head off on the 10th of September with I'll keep my progress posted on my stories here and on my training page wish us luck ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ’ช
