🎓✨ University Centre South Devon Celebrates Graduation ✨🎓

It was a truly special day as University Centre South Devon celebrated the achievements of our graduates, marking the culmination of years of dedication, hard work and perseverance.

Surrounded by family, friends, tutors and fellow students, graduates came together to celebrate this significant milestone and reflect on the journeys that brought them to graduation day.

From overcoming challenges to achieving personal and professional ambitions, each graduate has a success story worth celebrating. We are incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.

Happy World Maritime Day! 🌊⚓

This week, our Level 2 Maritime Studies students swapped the classroom for the deck of the Tom Scruby. A ship visit is one thing on a timetable and another when you're standing onboard, seeing the vessel first-hand and finding out what working life in the maritime industry looks like.

Leading the tour was Jack, who showed students around and shared his knowledge and experience of the vessel. He's also the son of our Maritime Commercial Course Coordinator, Becky Sanders, so it was a proud day for her too.

Becky said: "Being able to immerse our students in the industry is amazing. It develops their curiosity and gives them the opportunity to experience maritime outside of the classroom."

A huge thank you to Marine Plant Hire UK Ltd Ltd for welcoming us onboard and supporting our students. 🚢

Congratulations to Madi Williams and Jordan Bartholomew, both through to the semi-finals of South West Chef of the Year 2026! 🧑‍🍳👩‍🍳

The pair work together at Stoke Lodge Hotel in the Wildflower kitchen, and both have ties to South Devon College. Madi is currently training with us as a Chef Apprentice and is competing for South West Student/Apprentice Chef of the Year. Jordan, now Head Chef at Stoke Lodge, previously studied on our chef programme and is competing for South West Professional Chef of the Year.

Two brilliant results for our catering courses, and proof of the talent coming through South Devon kitchens. Good luck to Madi and Jordan in the semi-finals, less than two weeks away!

Last Friday, Tim from The Media Workshop visited South Devon College to brief students from FDA Games Design Year 2 and Level 3 Film Production on a new project.

Torbay Council has commissioned The Media Workshop to deliver the projection mapping centrepiece of Bay of Lights, the Christmas light trail at Torre Abbey. As part of that commission, our students will create original content for the show, working to a professional brief with support from The Media Workshop's production team and course leaders Kelly Bryant and Joe Cook. Selected pieces will be projected publicly at Torre Abbey this winter ✨❄️

We'll be following the project as it develops over the coming weeks, so stay tuned 🎄 P.S. Only 94 sleeps until Christmas! It'll be here before you know it.

Applications are now open for our T Level in Education and Early Years: Early Years Educator.
