South Devon High School, based at South Devon College, Paignton Campus, is a new and exciting opportunity for pupils studying at Key Stage 4. Pupils entering Year 10 now have the opportunity to join us to study their GCSEs in core subject areas, including English, Maths and Science, with a choice of specialist technical qualifications. The government believes that for many young people, combining academic and technical qualifications will give them the very best chance to succeed. At South Devon High School, young people will develop skills valued by employers and benefit from learning with industry experts in an employment focussed culture, using state of the art resources. Pupils choose to study up to three technical qualifications from:

- Adventure Sport
- Animal Care
- Business Studies
- Childcare and Development
- Engineering
- Games and Digital Development
- Health and Social Care
- Hospitality
- Sports Coaching

Got into school early? Didn’t have time for breakfast? Had breakfast, but still feeling peckish?! Free toast is available to all students between 8-9am, available in Café International. There will be white, brown and gluten-free bread options, along with a selection of spreads.

For those who qualify for Free School Meals, this free toast will be in addition to their meal allowance, meaning that they can still use that funding for a lunchtime meal. 🍞

Starting Year 10 at SDHS tomorrow? Head towards our level 1 entrance and staff will help direct you to where you need to be for the day ahead. The day will start at 9am so please arrive a little before 9am so we can get you settled. Remember to bring: lunch 🥪 or a way to buy lunch 💷💳! We look forward to seeing you. 💜

Staff have been in this week preparing for students to join us next week! We’re looking forward to seeing Year 10 for their first ever day at SDHS on Tuesday at 9am, and Year 11s will return on Thursday at 9am. See you then!

✨ GCSE Results Stories ✨

Olivia achieved a Grade 5 in English, Grade 4 in Maths and Grade 6 in Photography. ⭐📚

She is now progressing to study Public Services at South Devon College, taking the next step towards her ambition of joining the Army.

Olivia said, “Going to South Devon College was the best decision I ever made.”

✨️ GCSE results day 2026 ✨️

This year sees 92% of students achieve success across 12 vocational subjects including Games Design, Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, Adventure Sports, Sports Coaching, Automotive, Mechanical Engineering, Animal Care, Performing Arts, Health and Social Care, Childcare and Public Services.

Seven subjects including Travel and Tourism, Sports Coaching, Childcare, Automotive, Public Services, Mechanical Engineering and Animal Care – achieved a 100% pass rate, while students also secured 9 distinctions in Hospitality and 12 distinctions in Sports Coaching, proving that South Devon High School’s blend of academic and technical education is already delivering positive outcomes for its students.

We are so proud of ALL our students! Congratulations, class of 2026 💜
