In English today, pupils became detectives as they worked together to solve the mystery of how Etta, our therapy dog, āwent missingā (donāt worry; she didnāt really!). Pupils moved around the school collecting carefully placed clues, using their observation and inference skills to piece together the story. They then organised the clues in chronological order before writing a summary of their investigation, explaining exactly how Etta managed to get out and, more importantly, offering advice on how to prevent it from happening again. This engaging activity supported both Literacy and Numeracy skills, as pupils practised ordering events in time while using clear writing and time connectives to structure their writing effectively.

We are thrilled to announce that 100% of our pupils who completed Level 1 and Level 2 BTEC Home Cooking have passed with flying colours. The marks have been checked and verified by the examination board, who commented that āthe centre has delivered and assessed this programme effectively. Learners appear to have engaged well with the programme and developed new skills throughout. The assessorās approach is thorough and encouraging, supporting learners to produce work of a good standardā.
Well done to all our pupils for achieving this internationally recognised vocational qualification.

A big shout out to the manager of Belvedere Tower who introduced himself to our Outdoor Education group last week during a trip to Haldon Forest. Our pupils really enjoyed exploring the history of the tower.

This week in English, Year 9 stepped beyond the classroom and into the natural surroundings of Oldway Mansion woods, where they embarked on a creative exploration to support their writing on sustainability and ethics. Our pupils searched for natural materials, observing textures, colours and signs of environmental impact. They will then be using these discoveries as inspiration for their ideas and discussions when they return to the classroom after half-term. The visit has encouraged thoughtful reflection on the relationship between people and the environment, helping pupils to develop a deeper understanding of the responsibility we have while sparking imaginative and meaningful responses.

We turned a dream into reality with the opportunity for our football fanatic pupils to experience playing on the pitch at Torquay United's Plainmoor Stadium.
Year 9 pupil, C, wrote a letter earlier this year to enquire whether this could be a possibility, and after a series of discussions with the club we were able to make it happen.
Going home to tell family and friends that they had played or even scored a goal at Plainmoor is not a bad way to end a half term! ā½ļø
