A Fond Farewell to Miss Ward
It is with mixed emotions that we bid a fond farewell to Miss Ward as she prepares to move on to a new chapter in her career. Although she has only been with us for two years, she has made a significant and lasting impact on our school community. Miss Ward will be particularly remembered for her incredible dedication to supporting pupils who struggle with their emotions; her innate patience, boundless kindness, and unwavering calm have provided a safe haven for so many children, helping them to feel understood and supported when they needed it most. While we are sad to see her go, we are delighted that she is moving on to a new post closer to home. We wish Miss Ward the very best of luck in her next chapter and thank her for the wonderful, positive difference she has made in the lives of our pupils.

We were treated to some Sacred Heart talent this morning in our celebration assembly. Both girls received a standing ovation for wowing us with their singing and dancing.

We are celebrating our word millionaires with an updated display in the library. Each one of these pupils has read over 1,000,000 words. Amongst them, there are also multi millionaires with Lily informing me today that she is on an astonishing 4.5m
What incredible readers! Well done to all of you. I’ve ordered new badges for after Easter.

Year 5/6 Girls Football Match Report
A disappointing evening tonight. Two games played and, although our girls tried their hardest, defeat was the taste left on their tongues.
First Match vs Oldway – Lost 3–0
Our first match was against the reigning champions, Oldway, who have had some impressive victories in recent matches, scoring upwards of eight or nine goals. It was a good match, with our Sacred Heart girls defending every last blade of AstroTurf. Georgie produced a brilliant block in goal to deny Oldway an early chance.
Unfortunately, a misplaced pass gave Oldway the opportunity they needed to break the deadlock, and at half-time Oldway had managed to score just once.
The second half continued much the same, with us under pressure but defending strongly. Eventually, the Oldway striker managed to break free from our defence and struck home a powerful shot that Georgie couldn’t do much about. A third goal followed shortly after, with Verity taking over the gloves after a scramble left Georgie injured and needing to come off.
The game finished 3–0 to Oldway, and I’m so proud of our girls for battling right to the end.
Second Match vs Preston – Lost 2–0
The second match began very positively. The girls tried to find space and attack, but passes just weren’t quite finding their mark. The Preston goalkeeper saved a couple of early efforts from Esme and Ophelia, and Mira also had a chance that was defended well.
Unfortunately, a quick long kick from the Preston keeper dropped to their striker and, with no Sacred Heart defence nearby, they ran through and slotted it past Georgie. Soon after, Preston had another opportunity which put us on the back foot and, while we were recovering our positions, they managed to score a second.
The game finished 2–0.
Player of the Night
Player of the Night goes to Verity, who was called upon to adapt to a lot of positions tonight, which she did brilliantly. She especially impressed as a striker, where her spatial awareness and positioning were like that of a seasoned professional, giving us a real attacking threat in the match against Preston.
Heads up, girls. You win some, you lose some, and tonight was just one of those unlucky nights. Take that Sacred Heart spirit into the next games and we’ll get a win.

Mother’s Day shop donations still needed!
🌸💐 MOTHER’S DAY SHOP – DONATIONS NEEDED! 💐🌸
Dear Parents & Carers,
We are excited to be holding our very own Mother’s Day Shop in school! This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to choose a special gift for someone important to them.
To make this possible, we are kindly asking for donations of small, new or nearly-new gifts, such as:
🧴 Toiletries
🕯️ Candles
🎁 Small gift sets
💍 Costume jewellery
🧸 Small ornaments
👜 Bric-à-brac
🌼 Anything gift-worthy and in good condition
All donations would be greatly appreciated and can be brought into school by 13th March
⸻
💖 How it works 💖
Children will be able to visit the Mother’s Day Shop during the school day and choose a gift themselves — which makes it extra special!
Each child will need to bring £2 to purchase a gift for their mum or special person.
The joy of choosing their own surprise is what makes this experience so meaningful.
⸻
Thank you for your continued support in helping us make this a lovely experience for the children.

This morning we were joined by Debbie who is a senior fundraiser at Rowcroft Hospice. She presented a cheque to share how much Sacred Heart had raised at December's Rudolf Run. Our community raised an incredibly £1467.25.
We are proud to support Rowcroft Hospice in Torquay. Every penny raised helps provide compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses and vital support for their families when they need it most. 💜
A donation of £1,500 could fund around 60 hours of specialist hospice nursing care, helping patients receive expert support and comfort in their own homes.
It could also help provide:
🩺 Specialist nurse visits to manage pain and symptoms
🏠 Hospice at Home care, supporting people to remain in familiar surroundings
💬 Emotional and practical support for families and carers
📞 Advice and rapid response support for people nearing end of life
🌿 Wellbeing and therapy support to improve comfort and dignity
Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible — your generosity is making a real difference to families across our community and beyond.
