Last week, we were delighted to announce that Alan Bird will succeed Helen Pike as the next Master of Magdalen College School in 2027.

Alan is currently Head of City of London School and was the unanimous choice in a highly competitive field of outstanding candidates. Alan takes up his new role at a key moment in MCS history as the school becomes fully co-educational and we approach the school's 550th anniversary in 2030.

The coming academic year will provide an opportunity both in preparation for a smooth transition and to celebrate Helen’s outstanding contribution to the school.

We were delighted to catch up with OW and Former Head of School, Giulia Abbondanza (2023) about her career so far and life since MCS. Initially studying a Biochemistry degree at the University College London, after being offered a scholarship to train as an actor in Los Angeles, Giulia made the life-changing decision to move abroad and pursue acting as a full-time career.

Earlier this month, we were thrilled to welcome members of the Bob Stanier Legacy Society for a special 10th Anniversary event.
With a special Archive display, mini lessons taught by MCS teachers and a lunch at St Hilda's (overlooking School Field!), it was a memorable event and an opportunity to thank those who choose to leave a gift to MCS in their will.

Last week, we were delighted to be joined by expert entrepreneurs from the school community for the first Enterprise Pitch and Supper. Pupils from the Lower Sixth and Upper Fourth pitched their business ideas to a room full of professionals, giving excellent networking opportunity for pupils and guests alike.

It was great to see so many OWs who left MCS from 1962-2021 in attendance! A thank you to the parents and OWs who were a part of this event for sharing their expertise.

Jamie McIntyre, OW 2014, is playing at the Oxford Truck store this evening with his band, The Covasettes. They're currently on tour promoting their debut album 'Honeymoon Forever', which is at No. 4 in the iTunes charts, and looking like a strong contender for Top 40 in the UK official charts!
