✨ End of Term Magic ✨

This week in our Thursday class, we wrapped up the term with something truly special… clay mermaids! 🧜‍♀️

Each student sculpted their own unique mermaid before bringing it to life with paint, taking inspiration from the bold colours and expressive style of J. P. Johnson. The results were full of personality, creativity, and charm.

It’s always amazing to see how differently each child interprets the same idea — from intricate tails to imaginative colour palettes, every piece told its own story.

A beautiful way to end the term. I’m so proud of all their hard work this term 👏

With the term now finished, we’re looking ahead to our Easter holiday workshops — with a few spaces left, so do get in touch if you’d like to join us 🎨

We’re really excited to be expanding and launching our new North Oxfordshire branch this Easter 🎨

Alongside our Oxford classes, we’ll be running a small number of Easter Holiday Art Workshops in Chipping Norton at Glyme Hall — a lovely light-filled space, perfect for painting and drawing.

📅 Tuesday 7th April & Friday 10th April
📍 Glyme Hall, Chipping Norton

These sessions will follow the same approach as our Oxford classes — relaxed, encouraging, and suitable for all abilities, with a focus on helping each child create something they feel proud of.

This week in class we stepped into a magical woodland 🌿✨

We began by sketching our compositions, thinking about proportion and where our fairy homes would sit. From there, we blocked in tonal areas using gouache, focusing on light and shadow to create depth.

Once that foundation was in place, we layered colour and brought the woodland to life - finishing with those all-important magical details.

It was brilliant to see how differently everyone interpreted the them 🎨

A peek at some of the work in the studio over the past week. 🎨We've been focusing on observational drawing - exploring tone, texture, and really learning to look closely. Some brilliant work coming out of the classes.
