We love celebrating the many different ways our students pursue their passions alongside their studies. Today, we're delighted to celebrate Adhrit, who has achieved something truly special: publishing his very first children's book. 📚✨

Together with his mother, Malvika, Adhrit co-wrote and illustrated 'You're SECOND TO NONE, Andy!', an inspiring book for young readers that explores themes of resilience, perseverance, self-belief, gratitude, and emotional well-being.

For Adhrit, the project was the fulfilment of a long-held dream.

💬 "I've always loved reading stories, listening to stories, and creating illustrations. Ever since I was young, I dreamed of writing a story of my own. Homeschooling gave me the time, freedom, and encouragement to turn that dream into reality."

The book encourages children to focus on effort rather than outcomes, helping them approach exams, competitions, and life's challenges with confidence and resilience.

Creativity has always been an important part of Adhrit's life. Long before publishing his book, he spent countless hours sketching, illustrating stories, and letting his imagination run free.

Homeschooling with Wolsey Hall Oxford has given Adhrit the flexibility to explore these passions alongside his studies. His mother shared how our pupil-led approach, flexible learning model, and the support of Student Progress Manager Tara Brooks and Tutor Kate Speechley have helped nurture his confidence, creativity, and independent thinking.

💬 "The school has celebrated his individuality and nurtured his unique strengths. The guidance and encouragement of his tutors has empowered him to accomplish things that we never imagined at such a young age."

At Wolsey Hall Oxford, we love seeing our students pursue ambitious projects, explore their interests, and achieve remarkable things. Congratulations, Adhrit, on the publication of your first book. We can't wait to see where your storytelling journey takes you next. 🌟

🌐 Worldwide Web Day

The World Wide Web has changed the way we learn, connect, and discover information.

The web opens up a world of opportunities, from online courses to educational videos and digital libraries. When used thoughtfully, it can inspire curiosity and support learning beyond the classroom.

💡 Learning Tip: Encourage children to question sources, verify information, and think critically about what they find online. These digital literacy skills are just as important as the information itself.

♟️ World Chess Day

On the chessboard, every move is an opportunity to learn. Chess develops critical thinking, patience, and problem-solving skills while encouraging confidence and independent learning.

Here at Wolsey Hall Oxford, one of our most popular student clubs is our Chess Club. This club gives our students the chance to develop their Chess IQ, hone their skills, play against one-another remotely, and build connections with their fellow students.

Today, we celebrate the lessons, connections, and opportunities that chess brings, and the impact it has on our student community.
