Looking for volunteers to participate in the survey to collect individual air quality monitoring data with time-stamped location history to estimate the individual exposure to air pollution led by Dr Won Do Lee of .
Participants will be asked to 1) carry a GPS tracker and portable air quality monitor together for one week, and 2) fill in the activity-travel diary on the website at the end of the day or the following day (5-10 min each day). £25.00 will be rewarded to participants.
This proof-of-concept work explores the variations in air pollution exposure between individuals and their daily activities to analyse the highly detailed data resources. Further information about this project can be found on the project website (https://bit.ly/3foSpZX). "The COVID-19 pandemic may be a decisive turning point in our journey towards better, less polluting, healthier transport systems. But the longer it goes on, the more likely it is that we end up with short-term focused policies that lock in carbon-intensive transport at a time when the planet needs them the least. In this context, our Transport Studies Unit’s mission to inspire and inform change towards a more sustainable, just and accessible transport system has never felt more pertinent or urgent.” said our director, Tim Schwanen.

The idea that , or 'EVs', are new is thoroughly misguided. In a video for The Times, Tim Schwanen explains the history of the , from its birth in the early 1800s through to the climate emergency today, being touted “an important part of the future of urban mobility”. However, he explains, to make our transport systems truly sustainable “we will need to move away from owned vehicles towards walking, cycling and public transport”.
Electric cars are older than you think
