Stories 2015 – Oxford University Department of Education Stories (Students’ Ongoing Research in Education Studies) is the annual conference for graduate students held at the Department of Education, University of Oxford. This year’s conference will take place on 17 & 18 March 2015.

Our next Keynote speaker: Di Roberts, CEO and Principal, Brockenhurst College.
Di has been Principal and Chief Executive of Brockenhurst College since September 2006, having been Deputy Principal at the College from January 2004. Di has taught across the ability levels and spent time as an Ofsted Inspector. She also has significant experience in business and training over a number of years. In 2011, Di was awarded the CBE in recognition of her services to further education. She is Deputy Chair of the national Association of Colleges and also chairs the Association of Colleges Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (LLDD) Portfolio Group.
Our Keynote Speaker: Dr. David Johnson, Department of Education, University of Oxford
David Johnson is University Reader in Comparative and International Education (Developing Countries) and Fellow of St Antony’s College.
David Johnson is a Chartered Educational Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council (UK) and the British Psychological Society.
He has expertise in educational assessment and testing and has carried out numerous studies into children’s learning and the professional knowledge and capabilities of teachers and school leaders in developing countries. He has worked extensively on the development of curriculum and assessment policies, national learning assessments and initiatives aimed at strengthening the delivery of education, including educational management information systems.
He has worked in an advisory capacity for many governments in the development of policies aimed at educational reform including with the Ministries of Education in Belize, Bhutan, The Gambia, Malawi, Nigeria and Pakistan.
Currently he is carrying out studies into policy learning, teacher knowledge and student learning in India as part of an evaluation of the TESS-India programme (DFID / Open University) and working on a randomised control trial on teacher incentives in Rwanda in collaboration with economists from Georgetown University, Oxford, and the World Bank.

The aim of the 2015 conference is to explore the opportunities and challenges inherent in the pursuit of knowledge and experience across disciplines, educational exchange in practice and policy; and indeed how research and practice are communicated within and outside different fields and disciplines amongst research and practitioners alike.
