Dear All,
Happy Friday, I hope you have had a good week.
Horspath Nursery is now closed for the summer but we do hold a play scheme from Monday 20th July until Friday 24th July and Monday 27th July to Friday 31st July from 9am until 4pm. If you would like to book your child in please complete link below:

This week we have been enjoying looking at summer.
We started with a visit from Farms2Ewe which the children absolutely loved!
In our creative area we have been making paper plate water paint shells and making paper fish.
In our wildlife area we have been exploring nature, looking for frogs and newts and using magnifying glasses to see them more closely, watering plants, balancing on balance beams.
In our role play area we have enjoyed playing in our ice cream shop, sharing the resources, bought ice creams for our friends and enjoyed mixing all the colours and flavours to make lolly pops with different toppings.
In our water trays we have explored water, boats and frogs and seeing how far the frogs can jump and whether they can land in the boats.
In our sand pit we have been building sandcastles, hunting for shells, they particularly enjoyed taking their shoes and socks off to enjoy feeling the sand between their toes as well as comparing shell sizes.
Many thanks to all that have supported Horspath Nursery over the last year, we really appreciate all your hard work and hope you have a lovely summer holiday.
We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 2nd September.

Our book of the week is ‘Penguin on vacation’
We close at 1:15pm on Friday 17th July and there is no after school club on that day.
Have a lovely summer break and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 2nd September 2026.

Dear All,
It’s an end to another warm week!
This week our topic was Summer.
We have been selling ice creams in our ice cream shop, decorating our own ice creams, looking at different types of holidays and days out we can go on, explored the sea animals in the water, explored the shells and shell containers in the sand pit and explored the boats and frogs in water with a water fountain.
We sprayed water from spray bottles, talked about the importance of sun safety, made sun cream painting pictures, visited the nature area morning and afternoon from Wednesday to Friday where we explored the sand and mud, made sand pictures using sand and glue, played with bubbles, been reading stories, created train tracks and building with wooden bricks. We have also completed puzzles.
We did sports day on Wednesday morning and even though it was very warm the children did amazingly well and enjoyed showing off the different races we have been practicing.
Our book of the week was ‘What the ladybird heard at the seaside.’
I hope to see you at Horspath Village Hall tonight at 7pm for Bingo.
Enjoy the photos and have a good weekend.

Dear All,
Happy Friday!
This week our topic was Transport and Road Safety.
We have been sorting vehicles into air, water and land boxes, then listened to clues to work out what form of transport is hiding in the bag. We have been building large train tracks and taking trains along the tracks, playing with the Paw Patrol pups and vehicles, used junk modelling to create our own transport vehicles, like boats and tested if they can float.
We have been painting with vehicle tyres, made paper plate cars and made our own traffic lights, as well as looking at road signs, and how we cross the road safely. We have been putting together the road puzzle for our vehicles and people to go around and made playdough using different forms of transport cutters as well as used transport stencils to draw around. We had a motorbike to explore and sit on too.
We have had our leavers graduation ceremony too and visited the nature area every day.
Our book of the week was ‘Car, Car, Truck, Jeep.’
Enjoy the photos and have a great weekend.

Dear All,
Happy Friday!
This week due to the weather we have all been down in the nature area to stay cool, each day, morning and afternoon.
In the nature area, we have enjoyed using the utensils in the sand, exploring the large dinosaurs in branches and leaves, built train tracks, constructed with mega blocks, duplo and stickle bricks.
We have explored the mud kitchen as we make and prepare meals for others and finding bugs and insects. We have been putting together road puzzles and taking cars along, enjoyed spending time in the den and moving under the trees, sharing stories with grown ups, being creative with stick painting masks and mark making with chalks and pencils.
This week our book of the week was ‘Barry the fish with fingers.’
Enjoy the photos, have a lovely weekend, with the weather slightly cooler.🤞
